A glance at the headlines shows plenty about which to be nervous or dissatisfied, but of course the point of Thanksgiving Day is to sit back and reflect on those things for which one should nevertheless be thankful.
These might be big things, silver linings in dark clouds global or national, or they might be small, simple and personal. What are some of yours?
I'm thankful that my son is growing into a fine young boy who is healthy, energetic and not shy.
I'm thankful for the warm cat sitting on my lap as I type, even if she can be a pain waking me at 4:00 AM sometimes.
I'm thankful that I have some good friends, some of them right here on this board.

I'm thankful for the proper grammar of this thread title.
I'm also thankful for my integumentary system. I can't imagine what life would be like without it. Well, I can imagine, and it would be gross.
I'm thankful for all of the involuntary and unwarranted blessings that make life possible. My belief system calls that "grace", which has the same root as "gratitude". I think there's something to that.

I had thought that that was something up with which you could put, Mr. A. (^_^)
I like your choice, cosmic and yet personal. I'm also thankful for the integrity of your integument.

I'm thankful for the proper grammar of this thread title. It's honestly the only reason I even looked in this thread. Nice work

I'm thankful that many of you are "virtual" rather than real friends. Online, I only have to listen to you talk when I feel like it...unlike family.
Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful that we made it home safely from vacation. I'm thankful that I live in the United States, a relatively prosperous nation. Saw some extreme poverty on my trip.
I am thankful for my many friends. Some on this board, some in my head. Though I do wish the ones in my head would quit whispering for me to kill again. They promised they'd stop after last time.
I am thankful my family is relatively healthy and that my kids have moved away. And I'm thankful that Joe Paterno got fired.

I'm thankful for everything. We live in a universe that's out to kill us and is down-right malicious about it. Yet, we survive. We laugh, we love, we suffer pain and sorrow. So, what better than to be thankful for being alive.
Existence is awesome!
And I thank all of you for making life fun.

I'm thankful for new friends I've made recently.
I'm thankful that the problems I had with my back this past summer have cleared up.
I'm thankful for my monthly book club, which has allowed me to read some cool books that I might not have read otherwise.
Too many things to count, really.

Forgive me for getting gooey here -- I've been having health issues and am under some stress/worry over financial and physical concerns.
But spending time at my brothers for the holiday with friends and family made me think how genuinly bless I am to have had their love and companionship throughout my life. I have a great family, we have always been there for one another through thick and thin. Today, being with them, I let go of my troubles and reflected on what a gift this life has been.
I'm also thankful for the comic books I read and the movies I see and the music I listen too and the golf I play and the computer I dink around on... all the little things I take for granted that add a little fun and momentary escape.
