We can thank him for kidnapping a South Korean director and forcing him to make Pulgasari .

This seems to be the year of whack-job dictators/world leaders/crazies people weren't particularly fond of dying/getting killed. First Osama, then Ghadaffi, now Kim.

I wonder what Kim-Jong Il and Christopher Hitchens are talking about right now. I bet it's awkward.

I wonder what Kim-Jong Il and Christopher Hitchens are talking about right now. I bet it's awkward. Hitchens is likely penning a critique of Heaven's tyranny and Kim-Jong Il is probably complaining about the service.

Al-Jazeera just pointed out that Kim-Jong Il's successor will be the youngest leader in world history ever to be in control of nuclear weapons. Man, when you put it that way, yeah, it doesn't sound so great.

Yes, this worries me on a far deeper level than the leaky reactors ever did. An established, old and sick strongman has been replaced by a hastily named young one who seems to worry about his own legitimacy. No one seems to be panicking, but I see this as a classic Pandora's Box. Hope is certainly there, but it's on the bottom.

Or, as Ray Dennis Steckler once remarked, "The world's in a state of depression."

You guys remember him for starting the end of the world. I choose to remember him for nicer reasons.

I liked his work in "Team America: World Police" but other than that, he sucked.
