I've only seen like 1 or 2 of the real movies this year...because I have kids.
But could they be trying to be any more cliche liberal?
Best supporting actress? Black maid in a civil rights movie. Best support actor? Dude who plays an old gay man. (Although I love Plummer.) Best actor: French guy. It would have been perfect if Glenn Close got it for cross-dressing.

Was it just me, or was the gentleman who accepted the Best Foreign Language Film very subtlely attacking the U.S for our policy against Iran? His accent made it kinda hard to understand him, but he sounded like he said something to the affect of "My country will not be intimidated by other countries and their policies..." If that's the case...well....it doesn't really shock me...

Didn't watch it because John Stewart wasn't hosting. And even if he was, I don't think I could pretend to care even if I tried. So much boring fluff at an awards ceremony that I find more gratification just reading a list at the end of the night.
::looks said list up::
The Muppets is forever an Oscar winning film. Suck on it, everything else.

wow, i appear to have seen only one movie that was nominated for ANYthing. (That would be Deathly Hallows 2, which was, meh, middling.) Tree of Life and Margin Call are the only ones I'm even curious to see. Maybe Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

I was rooting for either Christopher Plummer or Max von Sydow. Plummer won, so I'm happy. About frigging time.
Billy Crystal was good but not at his best. It's tough to come up with good jokes about this year's Oscar season when the majority of TV viewers probably haven't seen any of the nominees.

Billy's opening bit wasn't his funniest. But overall he was good.
I was happy for Plummer. I've seen the film and he was deserving of the Oscar. Plus he gave a class speech.
As I've stated before, I felt the Artist was overrated. A good movie but not a great one. But Oscars are about politicking and no one does that as well as the Weinsteins.
The movies I saw that were nominated that I felt were more worthy of the award were Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball and Descendants.
Glad Woody won writing award for Paris (even if he doesn't care) as it was one of the best scripted films I've seen in years.
Streep -yawn- she gets nominated even when she's not worthy of it (ala, Doubt). BUT, while I haven't seen the Iron Lady, I will say that with her affectations and whatnot, it's the perfect kind of role for her. She was probably marvelous. But I would have liked Oscar to have shared the wealth, gone with Williams or Davis.
Edit: And WTF was up with Angelina Jolie? Sticking her leg out in that weird pose. She did it on the red carpet, did it while she was presenting an award.

No mention of Christopher Guest's "Wizard of Oz" focus group segment? Absolutely the best part of this year's show.
