Heh. It's Rifftrax's Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
At least in this case Mike and Bill never riffed it (well, Mike was on staff). This should be fun.

I don't really have a problem with it. Kinda sacred, but I'm not above trying it out.
I remember browsing the list of KTMA episodes to see if there were any available via rental/purchase that Rifftrax could do to update the original MST3K episode. I think Hangar 18 was the only one I could find that you could get from Netflix. Not even sure if that still holds true or not.

I'm certainly looking forward to it, it's just that there's a part of me that thinks that of all the MST3K eps, Manos is one that should just be left alone. For lack of a better comparison, it's like "remaking" what is the Citizen Kane of MST3K.
That said, I was also initially not thrilled when CT said they would do SCCTM, but ended up really liking their update. (In fact, it was arguably slightly funnier than the original.) So I'm definitely not being a purist here. . .I'm ultimately fine with RT doing this, but would be lying if I said I didn't have a wee bit of trepidation about it. As long as they don't overload it with too many bathroom or gay jokes, I'm sure it will be a riot.
Actually, how far along is the Manos restoration project? That would be a cool bonus if this were a VOD utilizing the restored version of the film.

I'm not a fan of this, I personally never was a fan of CT SCCTM. I think that it is a classic episode for a reason it's funny as hell the way it is. If they want to do a classic bad movie that was done on the show they should do Robot Monster which Mike, Kevin or Bill have riffed on and would be hilarious. Thats my .02 cents though I might buy it anyway.

I would love to see them re-riff Robot Holocaust. Just watched the season one episode and although the riffing is so so I LOVED it! Manos I am quite conflicted about. The episode is a favorite and Rifftrax has been really hit or miss with me. I would hate for them to totally whiff on it.

Will this be a download or a DVD release? Good question. I'd bet it'll be a download followed by DVD some months later. Just my guess.

Mike Nelson tweeted today that it was going to be a live show on August 16th, in theaters nationwide. I'm beyond excited. The live shows are my favorites. Now I just have to hope some theaters in East Tennessee are going to play it. Is there any way I can do some lobbying, or am I at Fathom's mercy?

The theaters Fathom use have a special satellite feed, so I think you're at their mercy. You may want to see if your local theater has the feed.
