My theater was only about 1/3 full, but it was plenty loud with all the laughter. The shorts were funny. The prune juice ad was just surreal.
Like other people have mentioned, I started the movie hearing the riffs from the original, but once Kevin started singing, that mostly went away. The jokes were funny and brilliantly delivered.
One thing I wish they would do is keep the riffers up on the screen. I love seeing their reactions when a joke hits home, or when something really bizarre happens on screen.

I wish it were louder. I've been to 4 of these now, and the sound is always half as loud as your average movie. And when the audience gets to laughing, it makes it hard to hear all the riffs. I got there early to save seats, and Fathom was running test footage (one of which was the What is Nothing skit and about 3 mins of Jack the Giant Killer, nice little bonus for me). They also showed some crappy live music, and it was MUCH louder than the feature.

Anyone know if this will eventually be on Hulu, like the live riffing of Reefer Madness is? I missed the first short and part of the second one. :-(

You know those riffs that aren't particularly creative but just catch you the right way? During Cylinders, when the girl was making her flashlight constellations, the narrator says "It's like having an actual planetarium in your room." Mike said simply, "Is it?" I just lost it. Maybe it was the timing/delivery, but it keeps popping in my head. Oh my God, that was hilarious. But then, the whole evening was hilarioius. Our theater (Seattle) was packed and the only hitch in the evening was some of the laughter was so loud it drowned out the jokes! The White Trash Twilight Sketch made me pee my pants a little. "I love ya ya dumb mortal bitch!"

"Why don't you use your vampire powers to get that washing machine off our lawn?" "Why don't you get your werewolf to do it? Yeah, I went there!"

First time going to a live RiffTrax event that I found out about with four hours before showtime! My theater was fifteen minutes away, so why not?
Theater was about two thirds full and I did not know about the preshow cards, lesson learned for the future.
What a riot it really was. Norman was just bizarre, but believe it or not, I actually have the prune juice commercial in my collection of commercials, so I knew this one. Was still funny though.
Stunned not to see more comments about Cylinders though! That was absolutely hysterical, especially them making the cutout zebra had me on the floor (almost literally) laughing. Great stuff.
This was the first time I'd seen an unedited Manos before and... Wow... did not think MST could be improved on, but given they could get away with more (Torgo at the window for example) gave them the room to do so.
Sign me up for Birdemic now!

This was my first uncut Manos experience, though I do own the uncut version on the latest MST3k release. Just never watched it.
It was actually very surprising to see new scenes appearing in a movie I thought I was so familiar with. The Master especially got a lot more screen time.

"You can bite my shiny cardboard ass!"
A great showing all around by Mike, Kevin, and Bill. Reading this thread is reminding me of some of the riffs that I'd forgotten already.
I was also interested in seeing how it would compare to CT's revisiting "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians". I think CT tried distancing themselves by making their riffs more current, while RT's jokes were meant to dissect the awfulness of "Manos". If I had to choose one, I'd say CT, but not by much, they were both great.
And what was the actual point to the Norman short? A humor-free attempt at bringing back the comedy shorts of the 1930s?

Our speculation was "Norman" was a student film. A student that spent a lot of time reading Satre on the beach and hanging around his apartment drinking instant coffee like Edward Hopper was going to drop by and paint his portrait.

We arrived at the Regal Mayfaire in Wilmington, NC right as the first short started. There were three of us total. Couldn't find three seats together it was so full. Very pleased with the crowd, especially since this was the first Rifftrax Live event they've hosted. We were afraid we'd be the only ones there.
Manos is da bomb! As many times as I've seen it over the years, it still felt surreal watching it in a crowded theater. I could tell by reactions that there were a number attending who had never seen it.
In this thread someone said they'd prefer the riffers be kept onscreen. Think I preferred them mostly off this time. The film is so full of expression and awkward pauses. Didn't want anything to distract visually from the power that is Manos.
We left happy and the audience seemed pleased. Ready for Birdemic!

Sounds like it was a great show! Too bad I missed it, but I'm sure I'll be able to catch the DVD release.
I feel a bit miffed, though. This was the first live show that I missed. Ah, well.

This was my first uncut Manos experience Whoa! I just learned something about Manos that I did not previously know. (sorry, little Sloane spillover, there.)
