OK, these "where are they now" threads happen every so often. Heck, I remember seeing my loss to the board bemoaned in one ([palance-voice]believe it, or not[/palance_voice].
Which posters of yore do you particularly miss? There are a few who are notably absent from my radar these days, though just because I fail to mention someone explicitly below doesn't mean they aren't also in the club.
Captain Hygiene: So, did the Cap'n graduate, and he's now too busy chasing storms to pay us a visit? If so, meteorology's gain is our loss. I hereby propose a rule: henceforth, no one who even risks getting an actual life gets in the club.
Chuck: Made poobah in the same cadre as the Cap'n. What, do you guys sucker 'em in for a sacrifice or somethin'? Or is he alive and well, posting up a storm in one of the manifold regions of the board in which I never tread?
Dr. Z.: Guess he left us at some point while I was away (like I can talk). I'll always have a soft spot for the guy who got my Firesign Theatre references when I was new. Come back and take revenge on this friend, sir.
Hugh Beaumont: What can one say? His hugosity has left a gap that even a host of great newcomers hasn't quite filled.
InStereo: Yes, I know, I know . . . but he was a fixture in my early days, and a part of me wishes that he could on occasion (dis)grace our presence.
Far from a complete list . . . I'd have added a certain bus driver but for recent developments, and WaldoJeffers checks in from my old hemisphere just often enough to not be quite gone, and is certainly not forgotten.
What do you, the posters at home, think?

They're bodies are in the Realm. But don't tell anybody I told...

::Ratso whacks Torgo in the head with a shovel, and drags him by his leg to the Realm:: Are you okay, Torgo? Realm not treating you too badly, I hope. ;D I do miss two wonderful posters: Donna the sad cat Lady and Solgroupie. You know who I don't miss? Afriendlychicken! Jeez what an ass he was...

solgroupie closed her account for some reason, and I think nobody seems to know why. I'm hoping it wasn't me who drove her away. I think I might have accidentally offended her because I mentioned I couldn't read her essays due to her refusal or inability to use the SHIFT key.

I think sol was tired of a few of us, and got tired of the antics in Sloane's in particular. But none of us should shoulder blame, she might have had other reasons. Like Dr. Z, she might have just felt she needed to get away and killed the account as a way of taking away temptation to return.
But who knows.
I second that Cap Hygiene was one of our best, and I miss him. There are a few others who pop up once in a blue moon who I miss as regulars.
And ah yes, the original crew who have faded away - Unsavory, Ator. Nerdgroupie (who joined -I think- a little later) to name 3. I don't want to over romanticize it, because I could be an uptight bugger back in the day and had a few conflicts (I've since learned to breathe), but sometimes I miss those days and the old gang.
Ah well, as Bogart said in Casablanca "We'll always have Torgo"

So what became of Van Hagar? Did he disappear, or is he under a different username now?

I was wondering too what led to solgroupie deleting her account. One day she was posting in her very nicely done thread about Charlie Chaplin, the next thing you know, boom, account deleted.

Back in my day Mrs Castleton Snob was all over the games. No more.
I know what it's like to need a break from here but total deletion has always puzzled me.

But don't tell anybody I told... ::Ratso whacks Torgo in the head with a shovel, and drags him by his leg to the Realm:: You're gonna be there soon unless you learn how to use "they're" and "their" correctly. And that's not a threat from me. I just know that Atari turns into The Grammatical Hulk when people misuse them.

But for a bit of real info:
Dr. Z felt like he didn't have anything else to say about MST and stopped out of a sense of honor. We told him he didn't have to, but the guy had his ways.
Chuck just hasn't checked in for similar reasons, but I still chat with him occasionally. He's doing well.
Cap, I believe, got a real job and grew up. Shame.
In_Stereo: he once sent me a very polite message a year or so ago asking if he could come back. I said no.
solgroupie: I never crossed paths with her all that much, so I'm not sure of the details. There's probably some good dirt somewhere.
Hugh: dunno.
Van Hagar: he hates you all. With good reason.
Oh, and I personally cry about yousonuva's absence on a bi-hourly basis.

From "They're buried in the Realm" to "Their bodies are in the Realm." The grammar switching was oversight. On the subject of solgroupie's account deletion, I've respected her privacy and never looked to far into it. From what I've heard, I didn't have anything to do with the board itself. From my interactions with her, she always seemed positive about the board in general, so I've always assumed it was personal issues.

Hey, I'm back! I haven't posted here in more than a year, mostly because I took a break from MST after I fell asleep at Jack the Giant Killer. Since then I migrated to YouTube and spent the second half of 2011 and the first half of 2012 remixing cartoons, but now I've grown tired of that and am getting back into MST. Hopefully I'll make some more reviews of MST episodes soon.
