Pretty cool. Shame she lost her tapes.
I've often thought it would be fun to turn up some of my old original recordings back when they shared tape space with other movies and junk my family recorded. But once I started a collection in earnest I just sorta lost all those because I'm not particularly sentimental about that sort of thing generally (just wanted to be able to watch the eps).
I had SOOO many. I had at least 3 Turkey Days recorded start to finish, commercials and all.

Oh she got her tapes back, I seem to recall. I remember she had an issue with getting them back because she sent them in to a trader who was having money issues at the time and couldn't afford to send them back for a while, but I think she messaged us saying that she had received them.

I met a guy at the Cinematic Titanic show I met RAD at that swore up and down he had KTMA1-3 on tape. I'm a natural skeptic so I didn't really buy it, but we ARE in the midwest where they aired and he was obviously a frequenter to MST related events.
But I can't imagine why he wouldn't have taken steps to circulate them so eh.

That would be my reaction as well. If he were as huge a MSTie as most CT fans are, he would have made copies of them and put them into circulation.
Unless he has some weird master plan for them. Or is Jim Mallon or Joel Hodgson.

If I spoke with that guy, I would have been properly skeptical. But I also would have given him the emails of everyone who trades tapes, the board, RAD, and gotten every form of contact info from him and bugged him every day until he confessed his lie or sent me the tapes.
It's our sworn duty to find the lost episodes! heh heh...

I know they're really early episodes, but I am dying to see the boys take on those old puppet shows, so K01 and K02 are two episodes I want to see badly. Star Force is important too, but not as, since we have season 3 ep in circulation (and on DVD next month).

I'd just be interested in seeing how they introduced themselves and the show for the very first time on air. Like....did they just dive right in because...hey...cable access who cares. Or did Joel have a spiel at the very beginning being his very first time having his brainchild realized.

Here's the extent of my (admittedly limited) knowledge of the KTMA early episodes:
I'll preface this with the fact that I have never really had an interest in the KTMA episodes, although I know they play an important role in the development of MST3K.
I had drinks one night with Jim Mallon and he told me that he has all of the KTMA episodes.
Joel does not possess the missing episodes.
Mary Jo has never seen them, but was never interested in them either.
I know this post doesn't really shed any light on the subject, but it appears that copies ARE still out there, albeit only with Jim. I have never met anyone at any of the Cinematic Titanic shows who have indicated that they have copies, but my lack of interest would probably preclude that being a topic of conversation. If I ever DO hear of copies being available, I'll pass the information on.

I know, like with most artists, they probably hate their early work. I think Joel doesn't even like Season 1 stuff if I remember correctly. But there really are some gems in the KTMA season (also some of the absolute worst episodes too though...K05 possibly being numero uno) In other news: New entry up! Episode 318 - Star Force - Fugitive Alien IIJust one this time because it's a good'un

I've added an RSS feed button to the front page of the site.
My question, if you were to subscribe to this, what information would you like included besides the episode name/movie riffed? My overall grade? Film plot summary? Fave riff? Something else?
Got more entries to put up for tomorrow so wanna get that taken care of.

If there was subscription options, I'd probably say the episode and your grades would be good quick info. Especially if you gave your overall grade, theater grade and host grade.
I like your format and your site!

Thanks. Ok. I'll include some grade information in the feeds starting tomorrow when I put up new ones.
