Some time ago I bought a portable generator. My neighbors were buying one, and they offered to get one for me too(yes, I paid them back). They got a deal cause they had Amazon Prime. Well, finally had a chance to use it as really bad storms came through the Chicago area Friday afternoon. It was nice being able to run the fridge, and watch some TV. Only bad thing was I didn't have Internet access, but power came back on this afternoon.

My granddaughter called me Saturday because she wanted to talk with me. First time ever. I'm off tomorrow so I'll make the two hour drive down and back to see her for three or four hours. My son will be coming over for lunch. I'm really looking forward to it.
Since my marital split I'm much closer to the rest of my family. My ex was driving a wedge between me and them.

you're a pardoned prisoner, sky. and there is nothing better or more difficult than holding a phone conversation with someone that small. i just got back from a two day excursion to gatlinburg. my folks have a time share condo there, and my sister drove down from delaware to use it this week. i drove over sunday and our two cousins joined us. it was the first time the four of us spent a night together since we were little kids, staying at our grandmother's house. we cooked dinner, went over old pictures and drank copious amounts of wine. at least i did. it was a good time and the smoky mountains are beautiful this time of year.

i looked out my front window just after seven this morning and saw six or seven deer running up my street. they darted just in and out of my front yard, then ran through my neighbors' yard, heading for a woodsy area that is behind their house. i've never seen any deer on my street before - it isn't like it's out in the boonies or anything. pretty cool.

School is out in less than two weeks.
No more screaming bloody murder at the children at 7am.
There goes my anger management coping mechanism.
