First thing I did today was went out and picked up the new Jaws disc. I won't be able to watch I until much later, but I just had to have it. Pretty much the greatest sonofabitchin' ever made. Just knowing that I have it in hidef apeases me.
Who else has gotten it? Blu-Ray is going Speilberg this fall. Today we have Jaws, next month we get Indiana Jones, and October gives us ET. And since I already have Jurassic Park and Tintin, all I need is Munich to make my heart content.

I'll probably grab it this weekend. (it's payday this week -in a 3 paycheck month- plus I get my yearly bonus check soon... so I can treat myself to this and Amie Mann's new CD with no guilt)

You best get on that MJ. By god, the picture is incredible. And there's even a small documentary devoted to how they restored it. It was totally worth the effort because I've never seen it look this pristine.

Finally got it this weekend. And it was worth every penny. Watched the new documentary and the piece on restoration, as well as the film.
There are a few instances of motion blurring and a couple scenes with graininess, but that was to be expected -- overall it's a stunner. I've never seen it look so sharp.
Of Universals 13 restorations, this and the Birds were my most anticipated (and so far, I only see the Birds coming out in a collection - which I wont be buying since I already have Psycho & North By Northwest on blu.)

The Birds is also in theaters in September. Look up the showtimes on the Regal cinemas website. It should be on a wednesday, I think.
They're also doing a double feature of Frankenstein and Bride on October 24th, the day before Rifftrax does Birdemic!

Thanks for the info - I'm writting up a request off as we speak. (if it started at 6 I'd could do both, but 7 would be cutting it close... unless I wanted to cheat and come in a half hour late and just say "oops")

The same with me on those days in October. If my days off fall on the Birds, I'm definitely going to take it in.
And they've got To Kill a Mockingbird in November. Universal is definitely rewarding film buffs for their 100th anniversary!

And they've got To Kill a Mockingbird in November. MJ fills out another time off request form... Looks like more than just the movie, intros and interviews are part of these showings.

Yeah, TCM is part of it, and they've always got great intros and trivia. The whole package looks great. I want to catch all of these, or at least one (I've opted for Frankenstein, but I love all the movies they're showing).
