The Stainless Steel Rat is gone

Harry Harrison, science fiction writer died August 15 at age 87.

He wrote the Stainless Steel Rat series, and his novel Make Room! Make Room! was made into the movie Soylent Green.

Most of his books were light reading and funny but he's was one of the last SF writers left that I read as a child. I'll miss his sense of humor.

One of the great SF humorist. I still think "Make Room Make Room" is the best over-population novel ever written. My other favorites of his are the hilarious "The Technicolor Time Machine," the "Eden" novels and "A Transatlantic Tunnel, Hurrah!"
