Not sure if anyone here is a TGWTG fan besides me and tobymobias, but Doug Walker, aka ThatGuyWithTheGlasses and Nostalgia Critic has decided to hand up his hat and tie to make a new show. So good luck to him and his future ventures. Keep in mind that the site isn't ending, just the Nostalgia Critic show, and there are plenty more shows on that site than just him and Lewis Williamson Lovhaug.

Aw, man. I'm a big NC fan too. I had a feeling this might be the case, since the Scooby Doo episode had a very "series finale" feel to it, with its parody of "All Good Things..." and all. My reaction is split between "You're making a huge mistake" and "Good for you, man". I'm a big proponent of going out on top and leaving them wanting more (like what happened with "Seinfeld", for example), so I don't really have a problem with it, and in fact am a bit supportive. And at least it was his own creative decision to end the show (i.e. he wasn't cancelled by a network or anything like that). But yeah, I definitely think there could have been (and wanted) a couple more years (at least) of the Nostalgia Critic. I think the real problem may have been that he was rapidly running out of bad '90s movies to review... Here's the video where he makes the announcement and tells about what he's doing next: thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/video-updates/36516-no-more-nostalgia-critic

It's sad that NC is ending, but it was probably time. I'm excited to see what the new project looks like, though.

It was probably for the best. In his last few videos, I kind of noticed he was running out of steam with the concept(Like that longass Starscream joke in his Transformers cartoon video).
On the plus side, now I can watch some of the earlier stuff I missed without worrying about keeping up with the newer NCs.

The whole review-iverse bubble is going to pop soon anyway. He picked a good time to back down.

The whole review-iverse bubble is going to pop soon anyway. He picked a good time to back down. That bubble will never pop! The world needs critics. It's gonna pop. It's only a matter of time. There are a lot of factors such as oversaturation and lack of material that are leading to it's inevitable end. Some of them will survive but most will go down in flames. It's like the Dot com bubble. But it doesn't mean we can't enjoy it while we have it.

This post was good at the beginning but kind of ran out of steam as it went on. I give it two and a half stars.

I'm glad that he not only decided to end it before it dragged on for too long, but also that he's kept the door open on possibly having the Nostalgia Critic show up from time to time if an appropriate joke comes up. He's not retiring the character so much as retiring the regular joke. Which is healthy.
Sad that it has to come to this, but... yeah, it's probably for the best.
