A "prequel" to the Norman short from Manos. It wasn't as good as the first, but still funny.
My group's experience was almost ruined by the people sitting behind us. They kept adding their own commentary to the movie (riffing the riffers if you will). About five minutes into the film, I realized they weren't going to stop and I ploitely asked them to shut the hell up. This is literally the first time in over 20 years of theater going that I've ever encountered someone so disruptive that I've had to say something flat out to their face.
It took me about 10 minutes and a few good laughs to forget about it and enjoy the show. Sheesh people are as*holes.

I was sorely tempted to toss popcorn at the people sitting behind me when I went to see a film once years ago, but never actually got pushed to doing it. Glad that they didn't ruin things for you too much.

I went to go see this and the audience just kept exploding with laughter. Some of the best laughs were just from the stilted dialogue and ridiculous non-riff moments. Loads of fun that I rarely have in a theater.

Reporting my mst3kinfo comment:
Saw “Norman Checks In” with bonus full-length feature “Birdemic” at the Plymouth Meeting 12 in PA, theater was 3/4 full. My wife came along, so in effect I was “hanging out with the family”, though I did not have myself a party. Great show! I like how it felt episodic next to Manos, with Norman returning and a few Manos mentions during the show.

I had a great time at the show. Birdemic is funny enough on its own, but the guys' riffs were excellent . I especially liked Bill's "Caligula family" joke. And I almost lost it during the scene in the bar where Rod and Fashion Model (I forgot her name!) were dancing -- at least, those weird, jerky moves looked like dancing.
The Norman short wasn't as good as the first one, but there were still some solid laughs, such as their impression of Norman snoring. I found myself wanting to shake him and scream "WHY DO YOU PUT UP WITH ALL OF THIS CRAP???" I'll bet he didn't even write a letter of complaint to that hotel. He probably went right back there the next time he had a business trip and got the same abuse all over again.
It was a fun evening. There's only one negative: now that "Hanging Out With The Family" song is stuck in my head. I need a double shot of Black Sabbath to chase it out!

Well, I found one redeeming aspect about "Birdemic", and not just that she actually attempted acting.
So, anyone gonna get some sol panls for their home?

You guys, do you think the "director" of this "movie" held auditions?
Because if he did, that means the guy playing Rod beat someone out for that role. He was better than someone else.
I can't decide what I'd pay more money for: to see that audition reel or sink it in the ocean wrapped in a special chain blessed by priests so that it should never escape.

Saw it last night, my first Rifftrax live event. It inspired me to visit imaginepeace.com and change my whole outlook on climate change. I'll also be making an effort to hang out with my family more often. Good to know a sequel is in the works (Birdemic 2:Resurrection).

I missed "Manos" because I had a cough (so mad), so I'm glad I was able to see this one. It was hilarious all on it's own. I was cracking up at the first bird attack (uh - what the hell were those EXPLOSIONS?). The bird effects were ridiculous.
Funny line (when that tree hugger is talking to them): I gotta go - I hear a mountain lion. Whaa???
Wasn't too crazy about the short, I didn't think it was all that funny, even the riffs. That maid that calls Norman a pervert : uh, you were in HIS room, lady.
I hope they do another one soon. I found out too late (after I'd bought tickets ahead of time) that they now show these Fathom events at a closer theater, so that will be good.
Fun night.

I think this was my fourth time watching Birdemic. Its a delightful mess of a movie. The live riffing was just icing on the cake. My sides still hurt this morning from laughing.
Our theater wasn't as full as it was for Manos. Surprised me as I thought there'd be more interest in this one.
In defense of Rod... how could anyone look good under the direction of James "One Take" Nguyen?
