I didn't think I would like the spin-off series "The Flash" but it's really not that bad, and I think it's neat that his dad is played by the same actor who played the Flash in the '80's I just hope he doesn't pine for his friend for, like, 5 years or something. Maybe he could have a long distance thing with Felicity (though it wouldn't really be long distance for him, 'cause he could just run right over to Starling City).

I'm enjoying the Flash quite a bit. It stumbled out the gate with an overly busy pilot but has steadily improved in the weeks that followed. The latest episode with Captain Cold was one of the best episodes of a DC inspired show this year (topped only by Penguin's Umbrella from Gotham for me). If it continues to get better it could be one of the best superhero shows ever made.

Back to Arrow: I'm sorry, I really can't take Roy seriously in that get-up. Sure, Oliver wears a hood and a mask, but it's darker and doesn't look quite as silly. Maybe it's just the red with red mask (maybe he should wear a black mask like Ollie and it wouldn't look as bad).
There was a scene with the two of them and Oliver said, "Roy..." I couldn't help but hear in my head Mike, Kevin or Bill saying, "You look ridiculous."

Heh. Another "Spartacus" alum on the show. The actress who played Naevia was on spurring Ollie on to torture and kill people, and now Crixus (Slade) and Asher (Boomerang) are sharing a cell.

Hmm...How are they going to solve THIS little problem?

Okay, so Laurel takes a few self-defense lessons and now she's a super hero? (I didn't ever read the comics, but I know she was the Black Canary in those, but COME ON!)

Well to be fair the show took strides to show that she's not exactly GOOD at being a superhero...yet. She pretty much had her ass handed to her the entire episode. But they're showing a learning curve too, as it ended with her outsmarting a criminal instead of charging head on at him. It's a stretch but as headstrong as she is it's not hard to believe she'd just jump straight in like that, and they're trying a good deal to make it work.
I've enjoyed the first few episodes of the midseason so far, after that fairly weak mid-finale they closed out with in fact. But out of all the super-shows this season Arrow's one of the three that are keeping me invested, along with Agent Carter and The Flash. Gotham's done nothing but get worse post-mid-season, with Constantine on the edge of cancellation I'm not getting too attached, and Agents of SHIELD needs to prove to me that it hasn't played its only ace in the hole last season (Inhumans is intriguing but the first half of the season was spinning in its wheels).

Wasn't too thrilled with this latest episode. A street brawl? Really? Jerk thugs would've sprayed them with bullets, not fought fair. I really hate when people don't just say why they are doing things and just stand there and let someone else yell at them about why they are so wrong. Felicity is an idiot, and Ollie should've just told her why he was working with Malcolm. But then, there would be no personal drama, I guess. And I suppose maybe that was his way of letting her go because he feels he can't be with her anyway because of the way he lives. Are they trying to humanize Merlyn (is that how he spells it?) by letting us see why he murdered hundreds of people? Doesn't work. Someone killed my wife, I gotta blow up this part of the city. It will all make sense, trust me. They should get rid of him and replace him with his time-travelling doppelganger: Capt. Jack Harkness!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. There was a group of gangsters armed to the teeth against a crowd of people with baseball bats, and they charge at them. Lol...no.
Other than that I liked the episode. Oliver's return was pretty epic. And I'm intrigued as to where Oliver's alliance with Merlyn will lead.

Oh, just KILL Slade already! Sheesh! Perhaps there's a story line down the pike where he gets decent again and that's why they're keeping him around. I know super hero shows and movies don't like to kill off their villains 'cause they like to keep re-using them, but...
Thea is going to need some major therapy.

They can't kill Slade. He pretty much made the second season frickin' AWESOME all by himself. As far as I'm concerned he's Arrow's golden goose.
Now this latest episode's cliffhanger with R'as al Ghul telling Oliver that he wants him to lead the League of Shadows...yeah that's not gelling with me. They've been treading that line of turning Green Arrow into Batman since the pilot episode, but this just pushed it over because that's one of the oldest Batman plots with R'as that's ever been. It's almost as if the writers always wanted to make a Batman show but were denied the chance to make one since he's WB's confirmed box office moneymaker so they made due with Oliver Queen instead...and now they're saying "We give up. We're just making it Batman, screw everything else."
Of course Ollie's going to turn it down, just as Bruce did. That's not even a question. I'm more interested in what's going to happen to Merlyn and whether or not Nyssa is going to slice Thea's head off (doubtful but still...).

I notice they're giving a little wink to the pronunciation controversy of R'as al Ghul's name. Westerners are saying "rahzz" and Easterners are saying "raysh" Also: Is this where the aliens come down and turn Diggle into the Green Lantern? They were actually talking to him about it (the actor), so I read. Doesn't go with the comics version, but I guess they don't give a flying fig. Maybe they'll just use the actor and not have him BE Diggle, maybe Diggle will go off somewhere else on the show (or get killed).

That Fight-Club-esque promo during The Flash was cute.
Cisco is remembering two time lines. That might give him a splitting headache. (Sorry).

I don't really like this whole story line on Arrow. Everyone knows Ollie is the Arrow. Oliver is going to head the League of Assassins and be the next R'as. This sucks. Maybe they'll do a whole bunch of episodes of this, and then on The Flash, Barry will change the timeline and they'll re-shoot everything with different outcomes! Then we can have some normalcy again. At least what passes for normalcy on the show.
I know they had the Lazarus Pit in the comics, but, I don't know, it just doesn't work on a show. I hate that they can have people die, and then there's no weight to it because they could just come back. Why care about any of them?
On a different note: I really love that Arts and Crafts bungalow they use for Joe and Barry's (and formerly Iris') house. I love those kinds of houses.

Re: The Flash: Okay, a telepathic, giant gorilla may work in the comics, but in a live-action show? No. Re: Arrow: Apparently they travel through that same worm-hole that is traveled in Supernatural. Flying to another country takes about 20 minutes.
