does anyone else watch this show? i have avoided it for the most part, but started watching it once it hit syndication. i guess i didn't want to like it, but i do. i liked tina fey all right, but not enough to follow her from snl to 3r. but some of the shows are pretty damned funny. i know a lot of people tend to either like or hate alec baldwin - if his name comes up in my office (which admittedly isn't very often), a co-worker just goes off on how much he loathes him. i never would have guessed it, but baldwin and fey have very good chemistry together. its last season began a couple of weeks ago, and so far i haven't seen anything to write home about, but last night bryan cranston was on (he'll always be hal to me, breaking bad fans) as well as matthew broderick - who has guest starred before. they both made the show last night worth watching. they've had a ton of guest appearances from oprah and susan sarandon to steve buscemi and steve martin, but my favorite was condoleezza rice playing herself as baldwin's ex girlfriend.

I've watched since season 1 and I think it's a good idea to call it a day after this season. I think any show, no matter how good it is, has a finite shelf life. Five to Seven seasons should be the template, Carl Reiner and Dick Van Dyke got that right a long time ago. Great to see some new offbeat characters like Cranston and O'Hara. Have you seen any episodes with Will Arnett as Devon Banks? They are THE BEST.

oh, i know - i love will arnett. i've never seen him in anything where he wasn't hilarious. i wish he could be in more eps of 30 rock, but it would probably ruin it. i also love any episode where jack's mother, played by elaine stritch, appears. she and baldwin are so freaking funny together. putting alan alda on as jack's dad was genius, since he is about as democratic as jack is republican. i also like it when they have other people from nbc on - fallon, brian williams, meredith vieira, matt lauer, etc. especially williams. that guy's a hoot.

I tried the show out a while back after I got satellite and a DVR. I fell in love with it. I've never watched SNL with Tina Fey, but I saw Date Night and loved it so I gave this a try. I admit that her and Baldwin have great chemistry. Tracy's antics make for a great WTF trip at times. (Like the second episode where his medication affects him). I loved Conan's line in that one. "You'll remember my next guest from his last appearance where he tried to murder me."
"And he's asleep."
Sad to see it go, but kinda glad they didn't wear it out. I kinda saw it coming with Fey's character having a steady boyfriend, and I didn't know how many times Baldwin's character could get married again.

yeah, i love it when conan is on the show. fallon, too. i figured once they gave liz a steady boyfriend that could possibly knock her up the show would be ready to end. i'd rather it end before it started getting really lame. like most shows, the earlier seasons are much funnier. i used to get so sick of hearing how great tina fey was, but she is a funny writer. this is one of the best things i've ever read that she's written - i love how even though fey has that nerdy hotness thing going on, they totally make her as unappealing as possible on the show.

One does suspect maybe Mamie Van Doren had slipped Tina's mind when she credited JLo with inventing the large-scale situation in the back...

did anyone see liz lemon tie the knot last thursday? i loved how her feminist demons fought it out with her desire to be a princess for a day. the princess leia costume was perfect for her. i'm getting to where i find tracy's antics tiresome - he gets stupider every season - but it was worth it to see jack dressed up as harriet tubman in tracy's dream. and it was awesome to see tina fey's daughter play liz lemon as a child - she did it perfectly. favorite part: black dennis.

I don't watch it religiously, but when I do, I usually enjoy it. And there are times when it absolutely slayed me.
I thought the cast was great. Baldwin has never been better IMHO
Though Will Arnet bugs me, just gets on my last nerve in anything he does (sorry fans), most of the guests have been hilarious. I thought Matt Damon was great. Edie Falco too. And I remember an ep with Chloe Grace Moretz playing a nemisis of Jack's, which was a hoot.

matt damon's appearances on 30 rock were awesome. showed me he was much more capable of something rather than sporting that square head of his around with a murderous look on his face. he was hilarious as liz's boyfriend. and having a girl's name on the show was even better.
my other favorite was tim conway. he played an old sexist, racist with aplomb.

i can't believe i missed the episode when colleen dies - i have to watch it because she was one of my favorite characters. i watched last night when jack and liz go to her home in florida and discover she'd had something of a romantic relationship with another woman, who jack thought was her nurse. that seemed kind of an odd turn for colleen's character - they had built her up for years to be as mean as a rabid dog with superb sarcasm and wit. but she was remembered by her "friend" to be called mrs. silly and entertained everyone with jokes and pranks. i would have preferred to see colleen go out the way she came into 30 rock, but it was kind of entertaining to watch jack come to terms with it. the best part was watching he and liz share a bed. but the funniest part of the show last night had to be kenneth's montage of the mistreatment he received at work - everyone slapping him, liz shoving birth control pills in his mouth, etc. now liz has learned her show is once again about to be cancelled just after she agrees to adopt twins. duh-duh-DUN. how many flippin' times has the show almost been cancelled, anyway? i don't know if it is the best thing about 30 rock this season or the worst, but it did give us steve buscemi in drag.

After watching last night's (the penultimate) episode I couldn't help but feel how autobiographical it seemed to me. I read Tina Fey's "Bossypants" and there was one point where she was conflicted about staying home with her kids or ending the show and putting 200 people out of work.
There will definitely be a new void for me on Thursday nights but they made the right call.

i agree. always leave them wanting more - it's a shame more shows don't follow that - instead, wait until the episodes become ridiculous and tedious to watch. i'm going to miss 30 rock and wish i had started watching it sooner. but it will always be in syndication, and i might start picking up the dvds later. it kinda sucks that we won't get to see liz and criss handle their new "twins" - i had to laugh when i first saw them. a miniature tracy and jenna. but the best part was the end, when jack gives the job as president of the company to kenneth - his face was perfect! no one deserves it more.

I didn't realize until the end that this was the final episode. My DVR only had it listed as "New" and not "Series Finale". It was good, very funny, but I think they could have gone out with a bigger bang. I still love the show. I agree that the turn they took with Coleen's character was a bit off putting but that episode was hilarious. Gonna miss the show, but I didn't have a whole lot of time to watch anymore anyway.

Oh, and I loved Dr. Spaceman's exit.
"And that's a series wrap for Leo Spaceman!"
Laughed my butt off at that one.
