These two pictures made my day. That top finger thingy image I was throwing around in my head constantly on Friday and Saturday. Popcorn, popcorn, POPCORN!! Hey, customers! We sell seeds you know! Buy some, won't you? More value for us and 90% less work for me. The second image...my lifestyle has been discontinued due to lack of interest.

Yeah, I must admit the 'finger guy' could serve me well...at work.

i can really do that. flip off someone, like 20 times at once. i've perfected it over the years. i stayed up until four this morning, watching mst. i watched laserblast first, and it was one of those times when you picked the exact right experiment and it's almost like seeing it for the first time because you enjoy it so much. then i finished with santa claus, which is one of my all time favorites. i was nodding off by 3:30 or so, but it's like i want to stay awake as long as i possibly can and not waste one minute of my vacation. i'm acting like my nephew when he would be determined to stay up all night once he was out of school for the summer. took a walk today and went a few blocks further to get this picture. it cracks me up every time i pass it. this guy has three inflatables, but usually he only has one at a time filled with air. wtf?? is he rationing out air? the other two that aren't inflated always looks like some kind of horrible crime scene i've just stumbled upon before the police arrive - charlie brown! noooooo!!!!here's a better picture of that hill. i don't know what it is about it, but i just want to be on top of it. and this was from my front steps today. thought it was groovy. there's this one sidewalk i enjoy walking down - there are a lot of front porches and i like seeing the different people sitting on them, talking or reading or just chilling. today i saw this old man with his head leaning forward, and i thought - oh, how sweet - this old guy is taking a nap in the sun - but then i realized he was tapping on his phone like a 14 year old. d'oh! here is smudgey. she looks like she is posing for her school picture or something. this cat pisses me off on a daily basis. i'm serious. every day i think about throwing her out in the yard. i feel a nap coming on. can't....stop...the...naaaaap....!

had to interrupt my vacation today by venturing out in the real world to get my groceries. UGH. i thought if i got to walmart early enough, i could avoid the massive payday/friday/holiday shoppers that swarm in after five, so i got there at one. WRONG! (this was not from today - i looked these pics up, but it wasn't much different) you guys just don't know how much i hate shopping. i'll wear something until it is almost threadbare because i hate shopping so much. but getting groceries is worse - our walmart is at least ¼ the size of the town i live in. plenty of room to spread out, right? you'd think. some more than others but no. my biggest pet peeve about getting my groceries has to be the other shoppers who meet up with friends and have to block the entrance to an aisle to stop and chew the fat a while. it makes me NUTS! probably wasn't but really could have been taken at the store in my town there they are - two or four people, usually with screaming kids yes, thank you - - blocking everyone's way. "how's yer daddy doin'? aw, he has his good days and his bad days, i reckon...don't we all - HAWR HAWR HAWR" - okay, it's not that i don't want these people to chat and socialize - why can't they just do it online like normal people?? okay, j/k. i just want them to move the hell out of the way so other people can get around them! dat ass one time i went for groceries late, around ten, thinking the same thing - i'd avoid a crowd - nope! there is no safe time. these two families converged at the entrance to an aisle, just jawin' away, ignoring anyone who needed to get by. others tried and shrugged and took the long way around to go up the other way. not me, boyo, not me. i stood there, staring, rattling my keys and clearing my throat until someone saw me and said, "oh, let this woman by, honey," and i said thank you and floored my buggy by them to get into the aisle. i heard whispering and then laughter, followed by someone who said, "i guess she don't like shopping." i know i'm venting about something petty and stupid, but it's just so inconsiderate! move your damn cart over two feet and let us by! once i got in the 20 items or less line and watched a woman unload an overflowing cart to get checked out. now, i'm not so bad that i count everyone's items and rat them out if it's 21 or something. but come on, this was flagrant! when she finally finished and started off, i said jokingly to the cashier - wow, i didn't know this was the 200 item or less aisle. and the shopper turned to me and sneeringly said oh, boo hoo.oh, snap. let's get this straight. i'm a lover, not a fighter. a sixth grader could whip my ass - i've never been in a fight in my life. but i swear i wanted to follow that woman out into the parking lot and just jump her. of course, i would have been humiliated beyond belief afterwards, but it would have been worth it. and why does walmart shell out the money to build 30 something registers to only keep the same TEN open? insanity. so, yeah. i want them to let us in one at a time. i'd wait for that. i'd PAY for that. and i have to go back tomorrow because i forgot milk!! there was a crowd of cackling hens in front of the kind i buy, so i bypassed them and forgot to go back. someone get me a freaking cow!! or build a target or something, where the elite, more discriminating class of rednecks shop!

Ha Ha Ha, I'm LMAO - you sum up the Wal-Mart experience to a T. And Christ, people are so bloody rude - they do everything you point out. I'm now on this special diet for my diabetes, which is expensive... so I hit just about every store, not just for the deals, but because no 'one' store carries all I need. Walmart has the organic chicken breast I like, the low sugar/low fat snacks I take to work and the cheaper price on whole wheat Boboli crusts (for my veggie pizzas) Fred Myer has the good lettuce (which doesn't brown after only 1 day) and it's the only place that carries my glucose drink (another work/dinner staple) Rosauers has the multi-grain bread, Safeway the low fat/low sugar Peanut Butter... (to name just a few items from each store) I hate shopping but I have worked out a nice little schedule for all of these (if I go to the library, I stop off at Rosauers. On comic book day, also make a Fred Myer run) But of them all, Wal-Mart is the place I dread, it's like a little slice of hell on Earth. I always stock up as much as I can so I can avoid it as much as possible. The place is a mad, just mad.

i didn't even mention that i WORKED for walmart, years ago. for about two years. i've often wondered how much penance i've earned from that experience. they are horrible to their employees. you want to know why you see the closeups of the happy, smiling employees on tv commercials? because there is a manager standing there pointing a gun at their head, just out of frame. they really don't care - they know there will always be a new crop of people looking for work who will be willing to put up with their abuse. it literally has made a friend of mine nuts - she worked for them for 20 years and is on half a dozen pills for her "nerves." walmart fired me. i wasn't walmart material. thank you, god. also, my roommate at the time was stealing everything that wasn't nailed down in the store, and they were looking for a reason to get rid of me after they fired him, so i got it one night when i didn't clock out for a 15 minute break. I'LL NEVER SHOP AT A WALMART AGAIN! i stormed. but i was there the night i got fired, buying shampoo. they used to have morning "meetings" with the employees - just a pep talk from the manager that everyone mostly ignored. then they would close with the walmart cheer. that's right. you had to spell out walmart YMCA style. and for that little "squiggly" as they called it, that went between the wal and mart, the wal~mart, you had to do this little move - that swim dance move where you hold your nose, one arm up and wiggle your ass down and back up. it was a real hoot to see the seniors do that. but i HATED it. it was so idiotic. forcing us to look like we were having fun. one time when we were doing the dance, the manager caught me rolling my eyes. i'm an EXPERT eye roller - liz lemon ain't got nuthin on me so he stopped everyone and made me do the squiggly by myself. once the general manager knew i was getting chewed out by an irate customer and did nothing to stop it (a friend in the management program told me), but the squiggly incident stands out more in my mind as what walmart truly is.

Hopefully no boss at Walmart is on the board. I think they probably have some policy where if you give out company secrets, you face certain death. I actually went to the Walmart out here, and most of the workers were foreign, like from India or something......and they can't help you find anything cause they don't understand enough English.
Glad you're not working there any more.

mj, i'm truly sorry if my blog made you realize you had to go into that madness. i wish you godspeed & healthy snacks. as for myself - in less than six hours my vacation will be over. let me add this disclaimer first - i am grateful i have employment; i really am. and i am blessed in that i have a slightly different job - i mean, yeah, i work at a desk most of the time, but at a radio station you will find you have multiple responsibilities and it is the closest thing i can find in what i want to do, which is write. i just get tired of writing the same old old plucky's got the best biscuits & gravy this side of 'yo momma's house type copy. actually, there is no business i know of called old plucky's, but there should be. my boss, who is getting up there agewise, chewed me out when i had to stop by the office a few days ago, claiming i didn't tell her i was taking this week off. i was all like - wtf?? of course i told her! but she obviously didn't write it down when i did. now's she's blaming me for a missed doctor's appointment - like i was the only person who could prevent that. it's just bugging me that she has worked with me for 15 years and actually believes i'd just take a week off without telling anyone. i wouldn't have done that, even back in my crazy 20's. i'll have to put up with her pissiness when i return tomorrow. not cool. but at least my vacation was faaaabulous. it was everything i wanted. i slept. lived in my jammies. i stayed up every night until almost 4am watching movies, mst's and rt's. i didn't leave the house for five days straight. the most productive thing i did was figuring out how to use the 'favorites' button on my new tv remote. except for getting my ass handed to me by my boss that one day, it was eleven days of bliss. my dad said it sounded more like retirement than a vacation, but it was just what i needed. ^totally me unless something comes up next year, i plan on taking the same week off. but this time i'm going to send my boss a certified letter to alert her first. oh, i'll do it.
