Colonel Mustard killed him in the conservatory, with the lead pipe. Now he's in my basement.

had some excitement this week on my street. i went home for lunch on monday to see two or three police cars crowding the road in front of my neighbors' house. what freaking fresh hell is this, i thought - the police are getting called to my street more often. turns out my neighbor was getting drunk with a friend. the friend pulls out a gun he bought at a flea market to show off and just started firing, right there in the street. the kicker - he shot up his own truck. at least it wasn't a neighborhood kid, dog - or most important - ME - but how idiotic can you get? he jumped in his truck and took off, but the cops caught him at a big lots. the next evening i just happened to look out the front window to see more police cars in front of the same house - this time accompanied by an ambulance. i saw a man laying in the street, but couldn't figure out who it was. my neighbor was talking to the paramedics, so it wasn't him. i saw another neighbor outside as i was leaving for work the next morning and asked him what the dealio was. it was that same moron that shot his truck - this time he came back and fell out of his truck and busted his dumb head on the pavement. truck revenge! ifb!

blech, you can have it. idiots like the people who occupy these apartments on this street are what give the south a bad name. believe it or not, it's not all rednecks shooting their pickup trucks with guns. thars our lack of teef and kunfuderit flags, too! this is the kind of thing that angries up my gypsy blood and makes me want to blow this joint. what the what!?

happened to catch a movie on tcm last night i've never seen before - i missed the first 15 minutes or so, but once i figured out who was who and what was going on, i slowly got invested in it. made in '48, it's been called one of the best noirs of the 1940's, which is pretty impressive. it was farley granger's "bowie" that drew me in. i had forgotten he was in strangers on a train; but it's been years since i last saw that one. i thought he had a very early robert downey jr. quality about him. cathy o'donnell was good too - i wasn't sure about her at first, but i grew to like her pretty solidly by the end. i liked her tomboy toughness, especially in the beginning. granger plays bowie, a well meaning kid who got mixed up in crime at a young age, but wants to start fresh with o'donnell's "keechie." they run away together and get married, but they both know their chances of having a real happy ending is not very realistic. so you know there won't be a happy ending, even though you find yourself rooting for one. still, they have moments where they allow to pretend they will. one thing that cracked me up in this movie and all movies from that era - when keechie finds out she's pregnant, one of the first things she asks for is a cigarette. and further along in her pregnancy, while she and bowie take a chance on eating in a real restaurant, he asks if her drink is strong enough. very well acted and was under the direction of nicholas ray at the beginning of his career. they live by night was the first film where a helicopter was used to film the action scenes. i'm glad i caught it, because it is evidently not easy to find for sale.

it's friday, bitches! i'm a lazy, lazy woman, so i am trying to prepare myself for a busy weekend. i have to work saturday mornings all through may. we're doing this thing where my PD and i will go to a few yard sales in town, take them a cooler of cokes and jaw on the air about the crap they are selling. i'll have to be ready by 7 a.m., which is closer to the time i usually go to bed on weekends than when i get up. i'm just a night owl by nature, so this will be challenging. i imagine trying to go to sleep early tonight will look like this - and my parents are coming in next week, so i am trying to power clean the house. i'm going to shampoo the carpets today after work. they have needed it for quite some time, but THIS is how lazy i am - i have a carpet cleaner, but just haven't felt like dragging it out. bah!
