is anyone watching parks & rec? i never see anything about it around here, and it's such a funny show, imo. now that nbc has lost the office and 30 rock - and you never seem to know about community - i think p&r will start getting more viewers. i admit, it's pretty similar to the office - the same "doc" format, andy is like a cousin of kevin, tom is a male version of kelly, ron is a manlier version of dwight and leslie and ben are a cooler version of jim and pam. but it's had a successful run so far and i've really become a fan of the show over the last few years.

Parks and Recreation is only an Office knockoff in its first season, which is by far the worst season. After that, The Office took a major dropoff in quality, and it no longer seemed worth ripping off, and Parks and Rec really came into its own as a show. I don't see how Dwight and Ron are the same; Ron Swanson is actually based of the actor who plays him. Nick Offerman is Ron Swanson, in a very literal sense. Also, Ron is a way better character than Dwight; Nick Offerman steals the show, especially in its last few seasons.

i didn't mean it to be quite so literal. just that ron and dwight have a different way of approaching a situation than the rest of the office. ron is obviously more pragmatic - dwight is more of a spaz, but he has qualities of handling himself when it comes to basic survival.
i just wish it hadn't taken me so long to start watching the show.

They are reviving "Whose Line is it Anyway", it'll air starting in July on CW. I watch this in the hopes it will make me laugh. They are still funny, but they need to come up with new games. (The one where they act out a scene lying down where they make it so it looks like they are vertical is funny). Anyone else think Aisha Tyler is EXTREMELY annoying? She yells EVERYTHING. I know sometimes the crowd is loud and she has to talk over them, but, sheesh.

I read that Tommy Wiseau, who made the infamous "The Room", is creating a sitcom called, "The Neighbors". Gulp.

The little bit I saw was epically horrible.

I was channel surfing and put on the guide menu to see what was on all the channels. There's a show called "My Strange Addiction". I put on the info on it, I didn't watch the episode but I read the description. It was about men who dress up in rubber suits and masks to be life sized female dolls. Not A man: MEN. Um...this is a THING?

Is anyone watching the new Odd Couple? I know it's only 2 episodes in, but it does NOT look promising. Their apartment looks too much like Frasier's pad, and the guy who plays Felix is acting too much like Niles Crane. And I do NOT buy Matthew Perry as Oscar Madison. It just doesn't work. And he always acts doped up. Is that just his personality these days? That's a shame. He just doesn't seem right.
This doesn't look like it's going to last.

Anyone else catch the series "Adam Ruins Everything" on TruTV? The host debunks some myths about things, like how flushable wipes aren't really flushable (well, they don't break down), and contribute to those fat bergs or whatever they're called that clog up our sewers. And he brings up other tidbits. Like how Listerine started life as floor cleaner and not a mouthwash. How you're probably not getting the kind of fish you order at a restaurant (orange roughies are just a made-up name to sound more palatable than "slime heads"). And you might be getting something completely different when you order tuna. (The fisheries are so depleted). Those shoes that Tom's shoes donates (buy one and they donate a pair) are actually putting shoe stores (local businesses) OUT of business in, I think it was Rowanda. Stuff about how expert wine tasters given a test couldn't tell the difference between white wine and the SAME white wine that was just dyed red. (My sister insists she can tell the difference between red and white ). Or expensive wine and cheap wine (again, it was the same wine, in different bottles). There was a bunch of other stuff in different episodes, the car selling industry, the TSA, diamond engagement rings (a tradition not started until the 1930's, when DeBeer's [sp?] had a REALLY successful ad campaign), and all kinds of little nuggets to chew on. Check it out, it's pretty interesting.

We broke down at my house and got Starz so I've been binge-watching Black Sails, Outlander, Ash vs. the Evil Dead, and I'm going to start on DeVinci's Demons, too. (I had watched the first season because Comcast allowed it on On Demand, to get people hooked so they'd order the channel to keep watching). I liked the first season, so I'll continue with it eventually.
Outlander is just an excuse for soft core porn, I guess. Not really going anywhere, storywise. Ash vs. the Evil Dead is pretty funny so far. And I'm loving Black Sails.

I love this show. Fred Savage's character is one of the few sane ones on there and I love his reactions to everyone around him. And this was a nice little wink on the writers' parts to catch people up on what this show is about while at the same time making fun of shows that do that. Edit: Hey! They took it down!

Neat goings-on on Turner Classic Movies tonight. They're showing serials from the 40's - Superman, The Green Hornet and Flash Gordon. Also, on Friday they're showing some animated movies, The Phantom Tollbooth (which is live action and animation, with Butch Patrick), Twice Upon a Time (a goofy little movie) Gay Purr-ee, with Judy Garland and ? Robert Goulet? I think it was, Ralph Bakshi's The Lord of the Rings ( !), Watership Down. Pretty cool.

I liked the first episode of Preacher on AMC. We'll see how it goes from here.

I finished watching DaVinci's Demons and I liked it, though some of the stories were a little out there. Love Tom Riley. They let it end after 3 seasons, but left it up in the air just in case they want to do more. I personally would like to see more adventures with Leonardo and Zoroaster, I like the relationship between the two - Leo and Zo, the Shawn and Gus of the Renaissance. And Blake Ritson is great as villain Count Riario. Has anyone else watched this?
