Anyone watching the revival of Roseanne? I know they mentioned Dan and Roseanne's 4th kid (saying he was on a boat somewhere), but didn't Jackie also have a kid around the same time that that kid was a baby? (Edit: Andrew.) That hadn't been part of the "false" story that ended up being Roseanne's book attempt, right? She DID have a kid before that whole thing with the lottery and Dan dying and all, right? Or am I remembering it wrong? (It was such a long time ago).

The 100 starts a new season tonight on the CW.
And this is more of an online thing, but it started OUT as a TV show: On Shout TV starting Thursday at 9 am (I THINK EST) they are having a marathon of Home Movies. (NINETEEN years ago it started?!!!)

Is anyone with HBO watching Barry? It stars Bill Hader as an ex-Marine-turned-hit man. He ends up taking an acting class which he stumbled upon following one of his assigned hits. It's pretty good, I'm liking it so far. It's six episodes in and only has 8 episodes for this first season, but I read it's been picked up for a second season.
It has some funny moments.

Cobra Kai
I signed up for YouTube Red just to catch this, about which I had heard good things. I had seen some of the trailers, and it looked so-so, but wow they actually created a really compelling series that fans of the original Karate Kid should really like.
Just a couple of quick things:
* The series is 10 half-hour episodes. I don't think I've ever watched a drama that had 30-minute episodes. There is a lot of humor in this series, but it's still a dramatic series, no doubt.
* Macchio and Zabka, who played Daniel and Johnny in the original, really turn in great performances. Zabka is especially good in some places, but Macchio has really come a long ways from his awkward younger years.
* It's available on YouTube Red, which is $10 a month, but they have a free one-month trial that gives you plenty of time to get this series watched before cancelling. The first two episodes are also free on regular YouTube.
* There are tons of callbacks to the original film, and the film series in general. The writers really knew the material they were covering, and are clearly fans from back in the day.
* It's already been renewed for a second season. It will be interesting to see if they can keep this story interesting.
Not sure if I'll keep YouTube Red, but I do want to see the next season. I guess I'll see where this all goes.
Also, I'm not sure where I should post stuff like this. Here? The "I just finished watching" thread? Make it's own thread?

Is anyone else watching One Strange Rock on Nat Geo? Wow. We do, indeed, live on one strange rock. And an amazing one at that. I really would love to see the Earth from space. I was listening to all the astronauts on the show saying how their lives were transformed seeing our home from that perspective. I think Elon Musk should send Trump, Putin and Kim Jong Un up there to be humbled and awed. Keep them up there until they realize we are all on this boat together.
Eh, they'd probably still be asshats.

For anyone who has Comcast: Epix is free this week and there are a ton of movies that were featured on MST3K that you can watch unMSTed: Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Tormented, The Hellcats, The Sidehackers, Time Travelers, The Corpse Vanishes, The Castle of Fu Manchu, The Giant Gila Monster, The Killer Shrews (I think, I forget if I saw that or not), The Beast of Yucca Flats. Don't know if I missed any. The original Gor is on there, too (not Outlaw of...). And there are a sh*tload of movies of that same ilk that COULD have been on MST3K - there's a movie entitled, "She Goddesses of Shark Reef." So, if you are into watching really bad movies unriffed you should have a field day (or week) with this. There are other movies on there with Bela Lugosi, there's the original Phantom of the Opera, there's some Buster Keaton movies. The oldest movie on there is from 1912! Wow. So, go crazy.

I watched A Million Little Things. I really just watched it because James Roday of Psych is in it, so I wanted to see if it was any good because I like him. Ick. It's only one episode in, so maybe it might get better, but they made so many mistakes right out of the gate. It's just a bunch of heavy-handed gloom and doom over a bunch of characters we don't even KNOW yet. Hard to feel anything. Just a bunch of people crying or being depressed or pondering the meaning of life in every stinking scene. Again, we don't know them yet, so it's hard to get upset over any of this. That and the fact that it was some of the worst acting I have ever seen. The wife of the guy who kills himself is just the most horrible actress, at least in this. What is with all the darkness and gloom in so many shows lately? Are all the TV writers on meds or something? Just because something is depressing, doesn't make it GOOD. Come up with some new ideas for shows, people. This Is Us does a much better job of this: At least we get to know the characters and care about them before all the sh*t goes down.

Currently watching The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. As a fan of both the Shirley Jackson novel and the 1963 movie, The Haunting, I have to say that I'm liking this revamp of the story so far. I'm on episode 6 right now and I plan on finishing it in a couple days.

Tried to watch The Conners just out of curiosity to see where they went with it. I predict an early ax. John Goodman seems like he's just phoning it in and doesn't really want to be there. (I'm guessing because Roseanne was his friend and he feels weird there without her). So, Roseanne is dead from an overdose, hey, what fun for a sitcom. Dan is mopey and just around. Jackie is as pathetic as ever, no character growth whatsoever and she looks like an old dishrag, why the horrible haircut? Becky is a hopeless drunk with a go nowhere job. I get that she's depressed over Mark, but that happened a long time ago by the show's timeline, so she really doesn't have a purpose, other than - she used to be on the show, so, just keep her there. Darlene is preachy and boring. The kids are utter crap. DJ doesn't have a purpose, other than - he used to be on the show, so, just keep him there. He has no chemistry with his wife and she looks too old for him anyway. And she's just there for, um... No reason other than one of the kids isn't white. No character, just throw her in.
David shows up once in a while to be a complete loser. No purpose, no character development. What kind of story lines could they possibly do with all these meatbags? There's no reason to have this show on. It was good in it's time, but the characters just went nowhere, so it's just really depressing to see them. Go away.

There is a Christmas movie airing tomorrow night on Lifetime called A Very Nutty Christmas. I may watch that - or just record it and scan through it for a lark. It stars Melissa Joan Hart and the reason I'm curious about it is, I actually saw them filming part of it in Mystic, CT the weekend before Mother's Day. My sister was doing something the following week, so we took my mom out on that weekend instead. We always take my mom out to eat on Mother's Day, and we usually make a day of it, going to some cute town with little shops and such, and we just happened to go to Ye Olde Mystick Village that day, and we were wondering why on Earth there were Christmas decorations of all things up around a lot of the buildings and fake snow here and there.
We noticed a lot of signs on some of the buildings saying things like "base whatever" I don't remember what they labeled them. Then we saw cameras, and people were around directing people to go around the filming. We thought, oh, they're doing some student film or something. Then we saw Melissa Joan Hart. We said, wait, we know her. It took a moment to remember her name (actors don't look exactly like they do on TV or in the movies when you see them in person - I'm guessing, it's not like I've seen a bajillion actors).
When we went into a couple of stores, we were joking that we'd buy some scarves and casually walk past, pretending to be part of the extras.
So, that was pretty neat so I'm going to give it a watch.

If you're in it, let us know! I have a friend who was on the game show "Let's Make a Deal" and his wife was an extra running in the background of some movie. Another friend was an extra zombie in the remake of Night of the Living Dead. That's about as close to knowing Hollywood actors as I get.

^^^^^^ Well, I skipped over much of the movie, as it was a really stupid, dumb-ass movie, but I watched the parts where they were outside in the village. I tried to see if there were people in the background, far away, who were walking around in shorts instead of winter coats . Didn't see anyone, so they did a good job of keeping on-lookers out of the shot. It was about a nut-cracker who comes to life and the bakery owner woman who falls for him, or something to that effect - didn't really listen to the whole plot. There was a scene near the end of the guy who was the nut-cracker talking to the guy who was the bakery employee outside the bakery. I remember them filming that scene, as I was standing in the building across from the bakery, watching from the windows. So, I was in there in spirit, anyway. I noticed the Christmas store they went in, as I had gone in that store myself that day. There was a sign on the wall that actually said Olde Mystick Village, so I don't know what town they were SUPPOSED to be in, or if they mentioned it or not, but they didn't bother keeping that out of the shot.
