movies.yahoo.com/blogs/2013-oscars/why-older-actors-resent-oscar-nominated-kids-155152284.htmlSo apparently, two Actresses, their names kept anonymous (but apparently they are two of the bigger "A" listers) are all up in arms and angry that Quvenzhane Wallis was nominated for an Oscar today. Their all going "Grumble, mumble....well, all she did was probably react to a director feeding her lines and how to react off-camera, she took away a nomination from an actress who deserved it, grumble mumble..." Ok, first off, it kinda bothers me that these two actresses asked to remain anonymous....show a backbone and reveal who you are if you're going to make such a big statement like that. Second, I have to disagree with them on the fact that nominating child actors should be frowned upon. If a child does a convincing and great job acting, hell, nominate them.

More than anything, the person who wrote that is not only still concerned about the importance of the Oscars, but made hackneyed references to women "stripping down emotionally".
Wallis is not much younger than Paquin was. I've seen plenty of kids actors do a much better job than the adults and work twice as hard. I would say putting in a transcendent performance can be more difficult for a child, who has to come at it from a lack of life experience or even complete understanding of the source material.
Methinks the two sources are A-listers only because of their "personalities".

Did the writer really know "A-List" actresses, or did she just have to write something? Since when do journalists care about protecting the identity of anyone? Oh, right - they were her friends. If they weren't, she probably would've named them.
As for the topic: I agree with one of the comments on the site, just stop having award shows. Let people who watch the movies decide what performances they like and don't like. We don't need an Academy to tell us who's good or not. I don't get awards for my job. I'm barely even acknowledged.
But, if they ARE going to have awards shows, which of course, they are, have a separate category for young actors and actresses.
