I've occasionally used Rifftrax to help get through movies that otherwise I don't think I'd be able to watch by themselves. There's something about the paint-by-numbers stupidity of contemporary blockbusters like Spider-Man 3 or the Fantastic Four films that's far less tolerable to me than the incompetence and goofiness of the old B-movies. Rifftrax has helped me get through some of these. They've also helped me get through the Peter Jackson LOTR movies, which are also hard for me to take, for somewhat different reasons.
But I tried the same trick with Twilight some while back, with the help of the boyfriend and a bit of wacky baccy, and we just couldn't do it. We quit maybe an hour in. Was the riffing just not good enough? We also quit partway through Troll 2 although that's partly because we tend not to like Rifftrax where it's just Mike Nelson and a guest, unless the guest is really good at it, and Lowtax isn't. But it certainly doesn't help that Troll 2 is an ugly, ugly movie.

"Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny". Your point is valid on the blockbuster films, but I could barely fathom watching that with the Rifftrax; it's that bad a movie-I feel it surpasses even "Manos". I have a loss of hope that has yet to regain after watching it.... Still laughed, but It was a dead-inside feeling.

I pride myself with being able to sit through just about anything, but the Hunger Games gave me a run for my money. I never wanted to physically harm a movie so bad in my entire life. And Jennifer Lawrence...someone please make this emotionless Barbie doll go away.
Still haven't worked up the courage to sit through it again with RT. I was waiting to hear a response about it to see if this pile was worth sitting through again but I haven't heard squat. I guess nobody else could stomach that movie either.

The Room. While the guys are the only thing that make this movie watchable, it still hard for me to get through or work up the courage to watch. Even as funny as it is, at the end it leaves me with a very depressing feeling.

Yeah, there's something truly forlorn and desolate about Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny. It looks like broken dreams put to film. The fact that the bulk of the movie consists of a dreary retelling of a tale from Hans Christian Andersen--surely the most cheerless and depressing of the fairy-story writers--doesn't help at all.

This is a great topic but it has to be Birdemic hands down.
Without the commentary or fast-forward button for that unwatchable catastrophe, I'm hosed for life! You guys are mentioning some blockbusters and mediocre superhero films of late but while some of those are great and the latter is boring, they're mainly not all that great with commentary because they're just so modern for their own good.
Yes, the B-movies tend to be more watchable because you don't know what to expect other than unintentional laughs which is why The Room is growing on me due to it's insipid sense of reality.

I haven't see any that are that bad, that includes MST3K that have defeated me at all. They haven't done something like Blood Sucking Freaks or The Human Centipede though I might still laugh at them up to a point.

The one that was absolute pure torture for me to get through was the Stars Wars Christmas Special. My god was that thing a steaming pile. At least they did riff on the commercials which helped ease the pain a little, but that movie was more painful than a root canal. Could not get through it in one sitting. It took me at least 3 or 4 times to get through it. After seeing both this and Crystal Skull, I'm amazed that no one has tried to assassinate Lucas by now.

Santa and The Ice Cream Bunny for me too. The movie was bloody awful and in my opinion the riffing was up to par.
Maniac- Just an awful movie not even the riffing can save it.

I actually sort of like the Star Wars Holiday Special Rifftrax but not as something I can sit down and watch straight through. It's the sort of episode I might put on low volume in the background when I'm working on something else, or taking an hour or two of nap.
Can you imagine being a kid in the '70s excited that there was a new Star Wars special on TV and clamoring to your folks to let him watch it, only to be treated to Harvey Korman's warmed-over vaudeville routines and a coked-up Carrie Fisher singing a sappy song?

I had forgotten about Maniac. I watched it one and a half times but the second time I couldn't get through it. The first time I wasn't even paying attention. But the second time through, it defeated me and I couldn't even finish it.

I can barely make it through "Ice Cream Bunny" "Tourist Trap" and "Bermuda Triangle", and every once in a while I forget why I don't watch one of these, and put it in the player. Before it's over I remember why I don't watch them, and put them away until the next time I forget.
Didn't really enjoy "Puppet People", "Supersonic Man" "Night of the Lepus" and "Frankenstein Island" all that much, but I need to give each of them another shot. "Guy from Harlem" is absolutely painful--I feel bad for the actors--but I never seem to remember why I rarely get all the way through it--until I watch again. Night of the Living Dead"--classic or not--is just too much of a downer for me to really enjoy either way.

One short that nearly defeated me was the swimming contest short that inexplicably turned up in the Rifftrax Live Christmas Short special. That stupid short went on and on really disrupted the flow of what otherwise was a great Rifftrax live.

Surprised to see Twilight mentioned. Setting aside that it features some of the funniest riffing on the planet, the movies themselves are a hoot. Even without MK&B, I would have probably watched the entire series of films, just riff on them myself. They are so delightfully stupid.
But, ah well, one person’s pain is another’s pleasure.
So what movies did beat me up?
Everything about The Expendibles pisses me off… but Elliott does some good riffing on it. So it didn’t defeat me.
Mesa of Lost Women is one of the all-time worst movies ever made (I mean Manos, Monster-A Go Go and Coleman Francis worst). With all those scenes of people standing around staring (Spielberg, take notes) I considered it unriffable. But damned if the guys proved me wrong. They made it a laugh…. So that didn’t defeat me.
Star Wars Episode 1 – The riffing is mostly the guys being angry at the movie, which I like because it echoes my own sentiments. I recently attempted to re-watch it, but turned it off once it got to that damned kid (and then there’s that other idiot. I’m with Kevin, Jar Jar bugs my soul) But I have sat through it to the end in the past… so it kind of defeats me, but the riffing keeps it from melting me down completely.
That leaves me with -
Maniac – it’s Rifftrax’s “Strange Creatures”: Completely unpleasant… the sound, picture, tone. Viewing it is the movie equivalent to having a bucket of poo and pee dumped on my head. Yeah, it brought me to my knees. Defeated.
Saw – I might have watched this twice, as I usually did that before reviewing something for my Website. But I haven’t viewed it since and it never, ever will grace my player again. I hate torture porn, it doesn’t even have to be graphic, just the idea behind it offends me on so many levels. Unwatchable. It defeated me.
