Well, Sunday night and Monday is Opening Day and Sports Illustrated has picked the Tampa Bay Rays and the Washington Nationals to meet in the World Series. My Yankees probably won't have a good year, with all the injuries, and frankly, I'm not sold on the pitching staff either. But I am excited for Opening Day and will see the Yankees in Chicago in August when they play the White Sox.
I like what Toronto did, and I think Baltimore should be good too. And Detroit is also really good, and they just locked up Justin Verlander for the rest of his career. Houston moving to the AL, well, okay, whatever.
In the NL, the Braves look good, as do the Giants. The Cardinals always seem to find a way to win, even with injuries and losing guys like Albert Pujols. It should be an entertaining year.

Another year where my two favorite teams (Cubs & Rockies) will both lose close to 100 games. Sigh.
Actually, if the Rockies' lineup can stay healthy, they'll hit like crazy. And not just because of some mythical Coors Field effect. Their pitching is just so wildly inconsistent. And not just because of some mythical Coors Field effect.
On top of that, the last 3 World Series were won by the 2 teams I loathe the most. Baseball's been bery bery bad to me.
But I am not dissuaded. I just need to find a third team with reasonable hopes to cheer for. Possibly the Orioles.

I think the Orioles can be a very good team. They won't sneak up on people this year, though. And for what it's worth, I think they'll win the AL East.

White Sox lost their perfect record today. Season's over.
And for some reason, I didn't realize that Pierzynski was catching when Yu Darvish almost threw that perfect game...how cool would that have been...with Humber in the Astros' bullpen?

White Sox, Tigers, and Twins are all tied for 1st with a 3-2 record. Got to say the White Sox looked good beating King Felix and Seattle last night. Too bad they lost on Friday night. I think the Sox can surprise people, much like they did last year.

Chris Sale: the only reason to watch the White Sox. But quite a good reason after tonight's game.
I'll admit: I didn't want him to do well because we almost went to the game tonight. If he'd thrown a perfect game, I couldn't have forgiven my son for getting sick.

Yeah Sale looked good last night. Kept me interested even though my feelings on the White Sox are well known.
The Twins are stuck in mediocrity just hovering around the .500 mark. The rotation is better than last year (somewhat) but the bullpen looks markedly improved. Mauer is hitting again and Morneau isn't doing to shabbily, either. So far it's been much more tolerable than the last two years.
Gonna be a long season, but maybe not as long as last year.
