OK, figured out the PM thing. Now, how about the time zone? I've checked my user settings and I can only seem to change the display format, not my actual zone settings. It's tough to tell where new posts are when it's defaulting to GMT -8 or whatever it is. I found what Godo did, nothing, at first. It seems in this new PB version, for which we had no notice of when the actual upgrade would occur, the time is set based on the time on your computer. At least that's what I ultimately got from PB support. I had thought they had gone to an IP based system, but this is basically the same. For those unhappy with the colors and themes, I've always had black/gold so the brightness wasn't as bad for me but a bit jarring initially. When I get through looking at other things I'll see what I can do about additional skins for the forum. Thanks for checking into it, guys. My time stamps are closer to what I'm used to now that I'm using my home computer, but there are places where it still comes up odd. Eventually I'll get everything figured out. There's obviously a learning curve for everyone. And never let anyone call you lazy Please don't take any of these observations and questions as gripes. Just trying to figure out the new system.

I had thought something else was off about the new look of the board, and after looking into the crystal ball that is the Wayback Machine, I noticed that the gold color of the title bar thingies didn't carry over to the new theme for some reason. So maybe the color of the bar things here could be adjusted to better match the old look.

You know, I know a lot of work went into them, but the old banners don't really work. Everything's so shiny and slick that having the old fashioned headers... eh, it's like hanging a painting of dogs playing poker in the Lourve. But whatever, it's cool. I don't really have any complaints. It is what it is and it's all okay with me. It's just a forum, no biggie (I didn't soil myself over Facebook changes as did many of my friends... I guess hitting my 50s has mellowed me out) EDIT I just had to see if it would work... and it did. Cracks me up that I can "like" my own post

Can I do it til I need glasses? Just a couple of notes on things in this thread:
1) We didn't do this. It's proboards' fault. We're still figuring out what we can control and what we can't. 2) The "Prev 1 2 3 etc Next" buttons aren't just at the top of the page. When you scroll down, they hover over the top of your browser window. You don't have to scroll back to the top of the actual page. Just, you know, use your mouse. 3) The other themes seem to work differently in different browsers. IE gives me some screwy things, but Firefox makes the black/gold look decent.
More later once we figure out wtf.

There used to be a drop down menu to get to the other boards. Is there a way to get to them without scrolling to the top and going "Home" first? I don't see it.

I'm digging the new forum. The drop down menu thing always annoyed me, and it looks sharp now. Much more modern.

Still waiting to see the spaghetti ball logo restored, kinda starting to miss it.
Anyway, another thing I like about the upgrade is that it saves drafts now. It's not enabled by default, but if you go to your profile settings and do "Enable Drafts", it'll automatically save your posts while you're working on them. Like if you're typing a post and your browser crashes or something like that, it'll bring up what you had typed next time you visit a thread. It's really handy in those sort of cases.

i noticed not very long after the board changed that i wasn't getting notifications when i had a new pm. not big deal, but today i realized when i clicked on the "new participated" thing at the top right to show new posts, it was wrong; it appeared there had been no posts in a few hours, when there had been. again, not a big deal, but just a quirk i guess.

I have to scroll to the top now to go to the next page. It's not staying on the screen like it did before.
