wow, you do paint a picture, chicken. as long as you're happy. say the word and we'll send crowfan out to get you some revenge closure. meanwhile - I think I went through 45 of that 50 shades of chicken. The story? I picked up my GF to take her to an appt and she was holding my hand while I was driving and about 5 minutes into the drive I mentioned an 'incident' at work that I wanted her side of the story about and then her hand pulled away and.... KABOOOM!! The next 2 1/2hrs were a nightmare. We went and parked somewhere and she wanted to break up and she 'didn't care anymore.' I cared and fought & fought for her. Then after waaay too many hurtful and bitter things were said I sat there quiet in the drivers seat for a few minutes, stared out the window and started to cry. Really heartfelt, painful tears. All of a sudden she leaned over and squeezed my arm gently and started whispering to me 'It's okay, it's okay. Stop crying. It'll be okay. Everything will be alright. Let's go to the store and do something.' So we went to a store, I had to clean my face first, and while we shopped a bit things started to settle down. I gave my Valentine's gifts to her and she gave me hers and by the time I drove her back home we were talking about our plans for the future and on how to fix the problems we're having, especially cash flow. I was a $12 chicken last month. So it's all a bit of a blur for me. But I hope I have my love back.

Thanks, Spice. We had time to do a little something last night for a few hours and everything does seems like it's back to being good. I think we just had to vent some frustration, especially from her side about her '$12 chicken' which I understand. The nice thing I like about her & I is that when we get into arguments we actually do hear each other. We listen and react and do something about it. It's not just grumble, grumble, grumble and nothing changes. We work at it to make a change. And my Valentine's Gift from her was Lloyd. I'll share a picture of Lloyd later.

I just knew you were going too think of Harold. No, this is my Lloyd: He's a green froggie. His full name is Lloyd the Love Frog, since his bow says love on it. That's his little friend Heaven he's holding. Heaven was my gift to her so they have to be friends. I know, I know, why would a guy like a stuffed animal? Well, because my GF & I have a long running joke, actually our longest running joke, that deals with frogs and especially toads. So Lloyd makes me smile and laugh. She's actually given me a couple of more stuffed animals over the years for Valentine's Day. First there was Love the Doggie and then there was Nohealani Bearsley. And yes, I came up with the names for her gifts to me. I understood that woman like to name their stuffed animals so I made sure I came up with names that made her go "Awwwwwwwww." And anything that she gives me that comes from her heart is alright by me.

It's been announced that the misnamed Science Channel will feature a new show produced by Craig Ferguson called 'I F-ing Love Science.' My first thought was nice title, but I hope it has nothing to do with that Facebook page a few of my friends keep sharing with me that's full of things which are not quite science. Looked through Skeptical Inquirer and Phil Plait posts and...damn, it is based on the FB page. I can't wait for the episode that proves that water has memory. The page just shared a two-part video a few days ago about the science of structurized water which seems to believe that the universe is electrically run, including our sun. This is part of one of the comments: "The cold of space powers the Sun. The energy to power the sun is already all around us and in the depths of space. The Sun transduces the surrounding frequencies and induces currents. Longitudnal waves of compression are ever present throughout the cosmos." That comment gave me a headache. All I could think of was 'huh? Soooo, no helium and hydrogen and fusion?' It's those blasted longitudinal waves in space that isn't there because longitudinal waves can't exist in a vacuum! It must be so comfortable to believe in new age mumble jumble. I prefer the difficulty of reality.
Please, just let me get to this Sunday and part two of the new Cosmos.

I was amazed to see an actually pretty good documentary on The History Channel earlier this week on Caligula. I'm not sure if it was one of those old Nova episodes that get packaged and sold to other channels to be shown as another shows 'original' episode; it did have the feel of a Nova episode; but at least it was good.

Last night I was able to catch the lunar eclipse. It was overcast through most of the period before totality but cleared up about 15 minutes before it began. I was then able to witness about 80% of totality, which lasted a back aching and neck stiffening 68 minutes. So I was able to watch all the stars pop out and see the moon turn what some say is blood red, although I've always felt the color to be more umber than blood red.
I had my 15x70 Celestron binoculars with me and enjoyed watching the moon get darker, and darker, and oh there's a cloud, darker. Meanwhile, Mars was close by the moon with Saturn trailing along somewhere behind and Jupiter was in the lead. And right near the eclipsed moon a Lyrid meteor shoots past.
I also browsed my way through the sky and paid special attention to M44 Praesepe aka: The Beehive Cluster because it looks glorious through binoculars. I then roamed a bit through Ursa Minor & Hydra and since Scorpius was rising, caught some nice views of the Milky Way.
But it really was the moons turn to, um, not shine. I stood out there for about 2 1/2hrs and when it was just past 11pm Hawai'i time I decided it was time to go. My neck and back thanked me, but my mind was sad.
All in all, it was a wonderful night.
PS: I tried to take a few pictures with my cellphone but this new phone is afraid of the dark, so I felt my memories would have to do.

Those are the most incompetently written signs I've ever seen. Hey, free fishing! Poor chicken man can fish too! Does that mean I'll get a citation if I don't fish? Here's a video a friend of mine just shared on Facebook: I hope this girl beats the leukemia she's battling. That said, what I'm seeing here is a reflection on the lens and I don't think it's the daughters but someone standing off to the side. I'm always amazed by the amount of people that don't seem to realize, or remember, that a camera has a lens. Almost every movie I've ever seen has at least one moment when the reflection of a light shines on the lens. And if an object, or person, is at just the right angle to reflect the light source into the camera, you can get an image like the one seen in the video. Still, I admit it's a really cool effect.
