Big Daddy IPA from Speakeasy Brewery out of San Fransisco. Good taste and flavor. 6.5%alcohol by volume. Full body. Description on the bottle says "No lightweight, Big Daddy IPA tips the scales with a huge hop flavor and clean dry finish that leaves the scene without a trace". Very good.

Heya Crowfan! I was just perusing this finely honed beer blog & wow! You've certainly tried a lot of stuff! I'm pretty novice to fancy shmancy brews but I thought I'd post a few that I've tried over the last few years that I actually enjoy. As I've gotten older I can't really drink beer the way that I used to (knee-deep in cans while cruising backroads) but I enjoy having a few now & again. We just made a trip to a distributor the other day to pick up a few cases to have around for the coming warm weather. This is what we bought:
Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat is at the top of my list for best domestic. It's available year-round, but it screams spring/summer. It has a light yet robust flavor with a berry-tastic after-taste. I could drink it all day every day. Their Honey Weiss is also quite good.
Franziskaner's Hefe-Weisse/Dunkel - I've had both, but prefer the dunkel. It's only 5% ABV which makes it easier for me to have several before I start slurring my words. It's not quite as filling as others I've had & I like the pint bottles.
Spaten Optimator - A hardcore yummy doppelbock. I feel like a gd gladiator or something drinking this stuff & @ 7.5% ABV it's a delicious way to celebrate defeating the planting of the garden. (I'm certain I'm not the only one who turns every chore into a battle!) Spaten Dunkel is also good. Optimator is a beer that drinks like a meal though.
Konig Ludwig Weissbier - This was a totally surprising blind buy that ended up being really tasty. Clocks in @ 5.5% ABV & it's a smooth-drinking & un-bitter (is that a word?) beer.
Left Hand Brewery's Milk Stout - Holy crap. Hardcore coffee/chocolate stout. A bit much for me, but has a nice aftertaste. Definitely a once-in-a-while kinda beer. They have a Milk Stout Nitro that actually sounds much more appealing but I've yet to try it. 6% ABV.
Last summer I tried Hell or High Watermelon - 4.9% ABV & it seriously tastes like watermelon water; there is no alcohol taste whatsoever. I didn't care much for it, it just felt wrong to drink something that tasted devoid of that familiar burn...but this would be a huge recommend to anyone who doesn't like how sickeningly sweet beer alternatives are but doesn't care for beer. This is a lady beer all the way. (don't scrutinize my sexism!)
That's all I can think of off the top of my head that I've had lately. I've tried a lot of stuff, but I don't recall specifics. I also have ZERO idea what I'm talking about, I only know that I seem to like wheat beer & the dark stuff. I read some of these crazy beer reviews & realize that there's a whole insanely specific judging world out there that I know nothing about.
Your beer tasting sounds like it was a lot of fun! That would be a great outing to get a gang together for!

Welcome to the blog. Glad you like it. I would love to do a beer taste with you. It was a lot of fun, and I found a lot of new beers. i really like the craft beers; I think they've rather exploded on the scene. I've never tried the milk stouts or the chocolate flavored beers; I think they'd be way too heavy and not sure those tastes would go together.

Found this new, to me, beer at a place called Valli Produce. It's called Blonde Ale: Death Rides A Pale Horse. It's from Mexico and is a "Day Of The Dead Beer" or as they say in Mexico "Dia De Los Muerto". The beer's nickname is Cerveza de los muertos" or Beer of the Dead. It's FANTASTIC!! 5.6% alcohol by volume, full body taste and great smell. Highly recommended.

Drinking Smutty Nose Brewery's Old Brown Dog Ale. The label has what looks a lot like a chocolate lab named "Olive" on the bottle. Decent flavor and taste. From Portsmouth New Hampshire. Not bad, bottle doesn't have the alcohol content on it.

Ordered some more brew, thought I'd post about tonight's tasty excursion. Schneider Weisse Tap 6 Aventinus: Wow. This is a double bock wheat & it has SOME taste! Friggin fabulous, to be exact. Feels like someone pushed my face into a field of fruity, yeasty, malty goodness. Not bitter at all, not too heavy. Just delicious! And at 8.2% ABV I'm pretty sure that by the time I'm through with this pint I'll have a lovely start on the evening. Highly recommend!

The Veteran. From Veteran Beer Company, Cold Spring MN. This premium lager has a full body flavor. It's 5% alcohol by volume. First time I've tried any of their brews...this one is pretty good. Here's their web site www.veteranbeercompany.comSamuel Adams White Lantern. A Belgian style white ale. Very similar taste to that of Blue Moon, with the same orange flavored taste. Interestingly enough, I felt this would be a much better beer to drink on tap, rather than the bottle I had. 5.5% alcohol by volume. This was okay, but I'd really like to try it on tap. Elliot Ness Amber Lager from the Great Lakes Brewing Co, out of Cleveland OH. This beer is a gold medal winner at the World Beer Championships. 6.2% alcohol by volume and good full body flavor. Great Lakes has a web site. www.greatlakesbrewing.comHopothesis. This is from the Hopothesis Brewing Co. Monroe WI. This beer is an IPA. It's quite hoppy, so if you don't like that hoppy taste, this one isn't for you. This is 7.1% alcohol by volume. Not sure I like the taste all that much. www.hopothesis.com

I began to think that crowfan might have a drinking problem but then I realized that crowfan doesn't seem to have any problem drinking at all so I guess I should just mind my own business.

Berghoff's Classic Straight-Up Hefe Weizen. Wheat beer with a spicy taste to it. 5.2% alcohol by volume. Good taste, but this is another one that I would like to try on tap. This had a good taste and flavor. Nice aroma as well.
