I had so much to drink last night that I actually watched the new Keith Olbermann show on ESPN. No more Golden Monkey for me.

There was something called the "Temperance Movement". Apparently they were drag queens and other people's Moms. Also, these folks couldn't get dates, even with booze, so they were very, very bitter.

I took the plunge, and purchased a few gluten free beers (by the bottle) to sample. I was finally brave enough to open one tonight.... New Planet Amber Ale, from Colorado. Here's my review.
GLAAAAAAEH! Ptu! Ptu! It tasted like molasses and yeast. Down the drain it went. I gave it a fair chance..... poured it in a glass and admired it's dark amber color, but after my initial (bad) reaction, I walked away, started making dinner, then sidled up to it again and took it by surprise. I sipped it until I could identify the predominant flavors. The molasses taste was very strong, and the yeast was more than just bread yeast or brewers yeast or even nutritional yeast, it was more like Marmite or Vegemite, and was gag-inducing when mixed with the molasses flavor. There was a certain something about it that brought up a hint of an unpleasant memory from childhood that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I just couldn't drink it. I decided to give up, and poured it out. I swear I heard frightened sewer rats cursing me as they fled.
Keep in mind that I like Guinness, so if you're thinking it was just too strong for me, that's not it.
Oh boy! Two more to try! But not tonight.

I'm sorry you didn't like it, although I have to admit I probably wouldn't like it either.
While in Milwaukee I took a tour of the Miller Brewing Co. It was a packed tour, but it was free, and after the tour, you get free beer samples. I learned a new respect for the people who make the best beverage in the world, that Hamm's is still made(Miller now owns it, it originally was made in MN), Miller is the official beer sponsor of the Green Bay Packers, so I had better start drinking some of their products, and free samples rule. If you're in Milwaukee, go take a tour.
