My brother and a friend caught their limit of bluegill and bass the other night. He fried some up tonight. A light beer batter and a dash of salt. That's it. I wasn't there but he promised me he'd do another round next time I'm over. View AttachmentThat looks so good. Edit: The fish, I mean. For some reason the picture didn't show up when I quoted your post.

He's always catch and release. A good day on the lake must have had him thinking about a Sunday night treat. It's definitely locally-sourced and fresh. They are apparently good with ice cold beer. It's 88 degrees at 10:15 p.m. here (weirdly), so the combo is probably pretty tasty.

Today I baked some cod fillets in butter (naturally) with salt and lemon pepper. It was great, other than the butter exploding in the microwave when I was melting it. Got it cleaned up but it was a bit of a mess.

There's a restaurant in the city where I live that is known for it's hot dogs (and seafood). One of the hot dog toppings is a spicy relish. When I went there I brought some of the leftover relish home and marinated some chicken thighs in it (along with a dab of the spicy brown deli mustard and some oil and vinegar).
Came out really good. The skin was nice and crispy and the flavor wasn't overwhelming or anything, just a nice little kick.
Edit: I also brought home one of their desserts: An orange dreamsicle cake. It was just a white cake flavored with orange (so the cake was orange as well) and it had cream cheese frosting. It was really, really good.

Bought some soup at Shop Rite - it was from Panera, they sell some of their brand name stuff in grocery stores. It was Thai chicken soup. It was really good, I recommend it to anyone who sees Panera stuff anywhere. Edit: They are ridiculously expensive, though.

I've tried a baked chicken wing recipe for my Dad a couple times now. Basically I brine the wings in salt water overnight after snipping off the wing tips. When I'm ready to bake them I drain them and pat them dry. I melt half a stick of (Surprise!!!) butter, pour it in a large bowl, and then toss in the wings. I mix them around in the butter (wearing gloves, of course), and place them on top of a rack fitted in a half sheet pan. You have to toss them in the butter pretty fast because the cold wings make even hot butter cool and solidify again pretty quickly. Once on the rack I sprinkle each side with kosher salt and pepper. I pop the pan into a 400 degree oven for a hour and then lower the oven temperature to 200 degrees for another 15 minutes to half-an-hour to crisp them up a bit. Dad doesn't like the saucy and spicy wings and he really like these. Not a fan of wings myself.

I bought more than one kind of the Panera soup and yesterday I tried the Greek style lemon chicken. It was delicious. I'd definitely buy that and the Thai chicken one again. Next up: tortilla soup.
I'll let you know how that one is, maybe I'll have that later today.
Edit: I had it the next day. It was also good.

Went to a nice tapas place with my mom and sister. We had ham croquettes (stuffed with ham and cheese and drizzled with chipotle aioli), steak crostinis (shaved steak and carmelized onions and gorgonzola cheese on bruchetta-like toast), chicken empanadas (stuffed with chicken, garlic and spinach) and the best things: short rib tacos with pico de gallo and served with rice and beans.
Yum.

Whenever I'm hungry and I don't have a lot of food options in the house, a good old fried egg on toast suffices.

I had an emu burger once, like maybe 10 or so years ago at a restaurant in Tucson.

Hot fudge, those sponge cake dessert shell things, strawberries, a little strawberry ice cream, whipped cream.

^^^ I don't like strawberries, but whipped cream on slices of pound cake with hot fudge or chocolate sauce is really good, too.

Walgreen's has these little boxes of dessert that are literal cup cakes - or rather mug cakes. (Edit: Betty Crocker makes them, so I'm sure other stores besides Walgreen's has them). It's cake batter in a bag, you just empty it into a mug, mix in some water, put it in the microwave and you have a little cake. There's little pouches of frosting for them. I stupidly got them, like I needed THAT in my life.
For the one I had today I added a little coffee ice cream and whipped cream. Overkill, sure, but yum.
Notice how I don't mention anything healthy? Ugh. I need to try something that isn't artery clogging, heart attacks in a box.

Another Friday, another 2-piece cod dinner from Culvers. Yummy.
