At the very least they need to do the same thing next year.
However, I think what they should do (and this is in the realm of possibilities) is have Joel and Mike host.
If they want to go one step further, convince Jim to let Tom and Crow appear with Mike and Joel. They could have Bill and Kevin reprise the characters. That would be amazing.
Let's hope the marathon gets the attention of some bored TV exec or makes Jim Mallon come to his right mind...
Much agreed. I think I've brought this up in a topic before, but I'd love to see a reunion special. Netflix was one possibility, but I think a Shout Factory release on DVD/Blu-Ray would be ideal. THat way we don't have to deal with waiting for a home video release, and we're keeping bigger companies like Netflix out of it. Really, wouldn't they just need Joel and Jim's approval and a budget?
I honestly don't think budget would be a huge issue. The show itself was made on the cheap side. I'm certain they could get a great public domain film and avoid rights issues all together.
As for a plot, I don't want to get all fanfic-y, but Ideally we'd see Joel, Mike, Tom and Servo in a four riffer special. Joel is a manager at a Hot Fish Shop in Osseo, Minnesota while Mike and the bots are living in a ground level apartment in Wisconsin. In-universe they're not too far apart, and are likely doing living quiet middle class lifestyles. Maybe Pearl could make a return and kidnap Joel, send a message to Mike and the bots, and request that they all participate in a final experiment or else she'll give up Joel to TV's Frank who is now a Soultaker. Maybe she discovered that her son had missed an important element to his grand experiment and all along they needed a four member audience. Just spit ballin', but you can see how easy it would be to think up a reunion story.

Now do a reunion already! The demand is there. If tonight wasn't the best indication of MST's enduring popularity, then I don't know what is.
