Recently got a dvd boxset of these. Some of them are great.
I remember watching "The Bank Dick" and "It's a Gift" on TV as a child, but I'd never seen "Man on the Flying Trapeze" and "You're Telling Me!" etc. Wonderful stuff!

I need to watch some WC stuff again. It has been decades. What do you recommend I start with, Shep?

I've only seen It's a Gift but it's hysterical.

I need to watch some WC stuff again. It has been decades. What do you recommend I start with, Shep? Most people would say "The Bank Dick" or "It's A Gift" (which are generally considered his best). I'd recommend "You're Telling Me!" as a starting point, however, because it's one of Fields' nicer characters and he even has a dramatic scene or two (wonderfully played!).

My favorite W. C. Fields film is "Man on the Flying Trapeze." The car parking/policeman scene is my favorite skit of his followed by the fakest back screen shot while chasing a car tire sequence in the history of movies. Tire jumps right, Mr. Fields jumps right.
