I live a lonely and sheltered life. Christmas was like any other day this year. No snow, no tree, no presents, no Christmas sex. no christmas sex? is that a thing?? in that case, i'm WAY behind. the reason i bumped this thread was to show this off and then i totally spaced on it. durhey. it's a bonnet that belonged to my great-great-great grandmother. my dad gave it to me. i've heard very little about grandma davis, but i do have a pair of her eyeglasses. i'm going to put them with her bonnet in a case i can hang. one of my dad's cousins is working on getting me some info on her - right now i know she was born in 1859 and died in 1936. so she lived during the civil war (my dad attributed the holes in the bonnet to a yankee that was taking shots at her ). just holding it makes me feel honored to have a piece of her and our family history.

Sorry MJ. I can relate. I had to work on Christmas, although some of my regular customers(I work for McDonald;s), gave me gifts, gift cards, or cash. My sister and her family sent me a Roku, some T-shirts, and book about Haunted Ireland.

I got some DVD's:
12 Monkeys Ocean's Eleven Ten Little Indians Nine Lives Eight Men Out 7 Faces of Dr. Lao Six Pack Five Easy Pieces The Four Seasons Three Amigos The Two Jakes...
And Alan Partridge in a Pear Tree
No, just kidding. And yes, I know, it's a really lame joke. Sorry.
But, I DID get tickets to see Book of Mormon on Broadway and a coupla swords. Those were pretty cool. (I'm not going off to kill zombies, I just like swords).

What's Christmas sex? I've never had whatever that is either. My most 'surprising/best' Christmas gift was an Atari Flashback 5 from my sister. I'm not much of a gamer, my only system is a Nintendo Gamecube someone gave to me years ago, so getting to play Adventure again, and Space Invaders, should be 10 minutes of sheer joy.

is that what christmas sex is supposed to be? At this point, I'd settle for 10 seconds.

Well hey, I did get a few gifts, a couple of superhero T shirts from my nieces and brother (and a Subway gift card). That was nice. And I'll get holiday pay for working on the day, so I can afford to treat myself later. Maybe I can even afford to buy some of that Christmas sex, hmmm?
Kidding, kidding...
they don't pay me that much

I've heard it's 50% off at WalMart.
10 seconds, that's about the game length on some of these Atari games. "Oh, what game is this?" (Hits start button) "What the...jeez! No wonder no one bought this game. Next!"

Christmas sex? DON'T let the little ones hear this!
Heard this on a college radio station a few years back. Pretty hilarious.
As for me, no one gets me what I really want.......real estate.
One of my daughters bought me The Godzilla Collection so that was cool. At the big extended family get together we have, we do the gift steal/exchange thing and I ended up with the complete Gilligan's Island series so again, pretty neat.
Cool story on the bonnet, spice. As for the Atari flashback, as a former owner of an Intellivision, I keep mulling over buying the Intellivision flashback. When I bought mine in 1980 it was 400 bucks!

Very cool, chicken. I actually just bought a new power adapter for my Atari but haven't had a chance to try it yet. It hasn't been on in 20+ years. Enjoy that. My brother got me this. It's an Apple IIc that's been sitting in a friend's basement since back in the old days, collecting mildew, and he talked him into letting him buy it for me. We just got it going earlier tonight. I broke out an old Apple disk I just happened to have among my stuff. Fired right up. Ah, Karate Champ. It's only missing the monitor stand. It's a long shot, but if anyone knows where I can find one please let me know

Bump!
What cool stuff was acquired this year?
I got something pretty cool --- I got a roll-up piano keyboard. Now I gotta learn to play the piano!
I got my mom a cool gift. Her family on her mother's side were from Scotland, so I got her this thing where you buy a 1 square foot plot of land on the grounds of a Scottish castle that they are restoring, and since you're an official "land owner" in Scotland, you can register and have an official title of Laird or Lady in Scotland. (Hope it's legit, heh, it seems to be). So now she can be a Lady of Scotland. Pretty neat. (I haven't given it to her yet, we're all going over to my sister's to exchange gifts, but I'm pretty sure she'll like that).
Merry Christmas, everybody!

is that what christmas sex is supposed to be? Just about ten, yep. I got a pretty necklace and horrific shirt from my mom, while my husband got a Chritmas themed towel--a dish towel-- and $20 "for craft beer" from my nieces and nephew. Um, okay! I scored the complete Mad Men DVD set and Trace's Silly Rhymes For Belligerent Children, along with some Ray Bradbury and tons of candy, yum! Quite the haul this year, thanks Santa and Pitch! I'm telling ya, Pepe, these Comedy Central contests are a waste of time.
