Well that's... kinda cool, actually. I'm a big fan of marathons, and The Simpsons is a show that certainly has enough content to make it a lengthy one. It'd be interesting to try and track how the episodes do ratings-wise in this format given their habit of having long periods of so-so episodes punctuated by better periods. (And, of course, the less common Really Bad periods and Super Good periods).

I'm sure they'll be the mangled syndicated versions, though.

well, i'll be buggered! i DO get fxx. i had no idea. i only have a couple of seasons on dvd; i've been negligent in keeping up with that. it'll be good to see seasons 4-5 or 6 again. i think their best eps were around then.

"A Simpsons marathon?! Old Gil's luck's really starting to turn around."
Love that guy!

i was the one who posted about this and then i went and totally forgot about it. d'oh! but i'm watching it now. these old ones are great - i don't know why they won't show them in syndication more often. much funnier than the last several seasons, imo.

Been watching this since yesterday, forgot just how fantastic and smart this show used to be, I think The Simpsons shaped most of my humor growing up.

What I'm most surprised about seeing while watching these early episodes after all these years is how romantic Homer was to Marge. For all his "Homerness" he's very sweet to her.

Season 6 coming up in a couple of hours. "Bart of Darkness" has my favorite line: "Who'd want to kill Maude Flanders? She's such a fox-- I mean, 'What's on FOX tonight?' Something ribald, no doubt!"

My favorite line comes from the same episode "Let us celebrate our new arrangement with the adding of chocolate to milk."
Also Bart playing Stratego.

Don't forget Bart's comet. It isn't surprising that's one of my favorite episodes. The ending where they decide to lynch mob the observatory so they can 'prevent' another close call from a comet always cracks me up.
I seem to love episodes from animated TV shows where the entire cast is involved e. g. "Band Geeks" from Spongebob Squarepants.

i love the comet episode, too. i love the scene when they're all packed into flanders' bomb shelter - when you hear lisa's muffled voice say "i'd get out but i don't know where i am!"

"I've got you, my rumpy doppelganger!" is a line I've been waiting years to use in real life. Sadly, the opportunity still has not presented itself.
