So, I was just curious: anyone participating in the Internet Slowdown today? Or otherwise had their day impacted by it?
I thought about putting this in Observer's Brain instead, but given the visibility of the event and how it's being handled it felt more appropriate here. For now.

my computer is always slow. but i saw this on tumblr today: Stop slow lanes from ruining the internet Here's the deal: The FCC is on the verge of allowing internet service providers (like the one you're using right now) to build fast lanes for sites that can pay for them, leaving everyone else in the slow lane. This would be disastrous for anyone who uses the internet. Luckily, you can do something about it. You can urge the FCC to establish rules for the internet that don't discriminate by class—and ask your U.S. senator to do the same. then there's a thingie to click on for a form you can send. I'd say the day was about as much of a success as it could be. They've got an infographic of the event here, and it looks positive.

I'll sign the form. Given the opportunity, business and government will control the internet as it sees fit. Despite the fact that we support/pay for it. Another example of "The Man" keeping us down.

Apparently, a big "video billboard" was set up right across the street from the FCC. I contributed a short video to it. Considering that the FCC's comment submission page crashed at least twice from the volume of people sending messages to it, I'm pretty sure that the "message will be heard."
Now it's just a matter of seeing if they'll listen to that message.
