that's sad. i really liked her on SNL, 3rd rock from the sun and i loved her on 30 rock as verna. she lent her voice to apu's wife on the simpsons when they got married, too.
i saw something - hooks and hartman dancing - it wasn't a funny sketch from SNL. more heartfelt. anyone else know what i'm talking about? i tried looking it up on youtube but no cigar.

What a bummer, very funny lady. Now she and Phil can be together again.

It doesn't seem to be on YouTube, but you can find it on this page: theconcourse.deadspin.com/watch-jan-hooks-and-phil-hartman-in-the-weird-gorgeous-1644570315I remember it airing and it's the last sketch on the SNL "Best of Phil Hartman" collection. Sad, but sweet. I want to say I heard Hooks say it was her favorite thing they did together, but don't quote me on that. I just watched it again for the first time in years. It was moving already in the context of Hartman's death, but it's even more so now that Hooks died. Damn this lump in my throat...

Damn this lump in my throat... thanks for posting that - really a sweet sketch between two great SNL cast members. a guy i work with said he thought that won some kind of an award, like an emmy or something. i used to have that "best of phil hartman" on video, but it was lost long ago. he was one of my all time favorites on the show.

I don't know if it won any awards, but I remember it being a standout as far as SNL sketches go. It seemed strange, almost haunting at the time. Now all these years later, I guess we can kind of see why.

yeah, SNL so rarely does anything serious, so it kind of throws you. it reminds me of that long ago bit of film belushi was in that aired on SNL, when he was an old man in the cemetery, showing the graves of his co-stars.
