So, despite all of my attempts to see Santa Claus tonight, a scheduling mishap (which was my own fault, I wanna stress that) prevents me from viewing it. While I curse and roar at the heavens, spitting bilious and vitriolic language at the constellations above me, I'm curious to know who's gonna be enjoyin' the Christmas show this year?

Just got back. Good show, but not great. Still, laughs aplenty. The bit where it looked like Santa was taking a dump was hysterical. I kept hearing the old MST riffs in my head the whole time, but that's bound to happen.

My sides are still hurting from laughing. Those dancing dolls in Lupita's dream were really creepy. And where did they get that short? Sugar and Spice, wow, just, wow. And Bill's curly shoes certainly got a big laugh.

Laughed my tuckus off! "I'm a T Rex!" "So, how much would a guy get for that, if he sold it for cockfighting?" "CURLY SHOES!"
Excellent work from the guys.

This was absolutely hilarious. It was as good, if not better than Birdemic. Bill Corbett in his "North Pole Guy" costume was priceless. I really do think Bill said most of the good riffs here, but that's probably just me.
"Thank you, Craig."

I actually went to this one at the Belcourt Theater this time. This is my second LIVE show that I actually attended in person--the first was Manos. I was initially upset that they were rebooting another MST3k film, because Manos was the weakest LIVE event to date, in my opinion… Santa Claus Conquers the Martians was much better, but Santa Claus was easily the best MST3k reboot they've done--and is now one of my absolute favorite LIVE events--PERIOD! Tons of great riffs & I laughed my rump roast off!!!
There's just so much going on in Santa Claus for them to riff on, and that's why I think it works better than something like Manos--with the long dumb driving scenes and long pauses and scenes of Torgo taking 10 minutes to rise from his dirt mound… Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the original MST3k riff of Manos--its a classic and an important episode for the show--but I think the Best Brains crew squeezed all of the goodness they could get out of that stone, so there just wasn't much left to riff with Manos… Again, I love the original MST3k Santa Claus, but unlike Manos, this movie is full of so many big, wonderfully dumb & colorful scenes, mixed with goofy dubbed voices, crazy visuals and plus the never-before-riffed footage gave them even more to work with! I give it 179 stars out of 142 stars! My highest rating!!! LOVED IT!!!

Santa Claus was absolutely HISTERICAL. An improvement on their hit and miss MST episode in every way.
Best Live show since Manos. Probably my third favorite behind that and Shortstravaganza.

Agree with sirhamhat. This was the best Rifftrax Live show I've been to, and I've been to more than a few. The new riffs were mostly hilarious, and the improved print of the (uncut) movie was great. I still love the original MST3K version, but the replacement riffs were on par with, and in some cases even topped, the original ones. Hope there is a VOD of this one, especially since there does not seem to be an encore scheduled and I know a lot of MSTies missed it.

Santa Claus is just such a terrific film for them. Those scenes excised for time in the MST3K version were amazing! I know that they had to conform to a strict time slot with the show, but surely it was hard for them to edit out scenes that were pure gold for riffing (as evidenced here).

I thought it was an excellent show. The Santa Claus print is amazingly nice. My son and son-in-law both gave thumbs up. My only concern is that my theater was 75% empty at best. I want more butts in seats. Do the theaters promote them at all?

I'm not sure. Our theater promoted Sharknado when they did that one, but other than that, not sure I've seen any other posters posted. I know Fathom Events will advertise them.

Yeah, my Rifftrax Live experiences are totally influenced by the size of the crowd in the theater. I've gone to all of the shows at a pretty big theater here in Boulder. Manos was standing room only and I found it hilarious. Birdemic and Starship Troopers were about 75% full and memorably funny. Santa Claus had about 30 of us in an otherwise empty theater, and I found it lacking. Having Mrs. Atari and the Atari kids there this time out made it somewhat better, but the lack of energy in the theater was palpable. We came home and watched the MST version the next night and we all agreed it was better (and having the host segments helped a lot on their short attention spans).

When the crowd is small I purposely sit in front of the same group of guys who laugh like crazy all the way through. They help make up for lack of audience. This one was quiet compared to Manos. At Manos people were clapping, hooting,...
