Hey, that rhymed. Check out the new web series Joel and Trace (as a robot voice, 'natch) are on. It will be on Yahoo Screen. See the trailer on screen.yahoo.com. I didn't know whether to put this here, or in General Chat, but I guess this is fine. If someone has already mentioned it, I haven't seen it. I heard about it on Satellite News. It looks pretty funny. Joel has hair like from his KTMA days. Episodes start on April 14. Pretty cool. Edit: Trace's robot's name is "Art"!!!

Yeah, Joel is very KTMA-style. Very cool to see him back on camera as a character again. It seems like a goofy, fun little show. t.co/YLj1HbFwtzI didn't realize Trace was is in it, which is excellent. It also appears to have a couple of actors who have done AT&T spots recently. One is the "my selfie just got 100 likes" guy, and the other is the actress who plays Lily Adams in those AT&T commercials.

I was curious about the show before learning this, but now I definitely won't be missing it.
As someone on Twitter said, all we need now is Frank to sign on somehow. (Or any of the other Brains, even.)

I wanted to like it for Joel and Trace's sake, but I couldn't get very far into it. Not funny (and...SHAKYCAM).

I loved it! It has a great cast, the characters each have distinct personalities which play off one another nicely. And it's very, very funny. And yes there's shaky cam, but that's more a poke at the style of film making we get new Star Trek. So I got a kick out of that, rather than being irritated. Reviewers have liked it as well. www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/space-tv-review-788337www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/la-et-st-0415-other-space-review-20150414-column.htmlSPOILERS... Joel and Trace were a kick, I like the shot Joel's character took... "Shut up you fudge eating hippy!" And when everyone gets their hearts desire, Joel's fantasy was finding a sandwich on the floor, and his reaction after it disappeared was simple but priceless. I was in stitches. Give me more!

I've watched the first few episodes of it and so far I think it's great! It's cool to see Joel in a TV show again and I loved Trace as the ART robot, there's something very Crow-esque about him.

Phew, this is addicting. I just finished the first 4 eps, going the save the rest for tomorrow. I think its a lot of fun, and it's given me my new favorite quote... "Breasts, natures trump card."

Now that Yahoo Screen has an app for Chromecast, I watched the first episode. I love Paul Feig--mostly due to his ties to Freaks & Geeks, one of my absolute favorite shows of all time--so, I've really been looking forward to this.
I thought the first episode started a bit slow, and it takes some time to get used to how quiet the show is. There's almost no background noise (actually none that I can recall--even the ship's warp speed is very quiet) and no soundtrack at all. I'm not sure if that's a creative decision or a financial decision, since Yahoo Screen is a bit of an upstart, with really only Community as its only other original show. However, once you are used to the "environment" and tone of the show, the characters and humor really shine through by the end of the episode, and I felt myself locked in. It is subtle and certainly not hit-you-over-the-head humor, and that is nice. If you enjoy the pacing and characters of BBC & other British shows--which I absolutely do--then I think you'll really enjoy this. Joel and Trace (or his voice) were really funny, of course, and their inclusion is such a fun treat. Its odd, because Joel, who is usually such a low-key and "sleepy" performer, is kind of the comic relief on this show and used to sort of punctuate the scenes with a bit of extra humor.
Overall, I enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to continuing to watch. Check it out and see for yourself! Thems my two cents!

I binge watched all 8 episodes last night and really enjoyed it. It was good seeing Joel again and hearing Trace's voice at "Art" Especially when he quipped "Turn It Off" "Turn It Off" in one episode. Also liked the character Tina played by actress Milana Vayntrub. Who some will know as "Lily" from the AT&T commercials on TV.

Really like the series. My wife couldn't get into it. It's an acquired taste I guess. She said the Captain's voice and his whining was irritating. And you know, after watching the whole series, he is kind of annoying like one of those Muppets you don't really like. Recast the Captain and the series is a home run.

Honestly, that's why I haven't watched it yet.

But that's the joke, he's not a the traditional manly man Captain. I thought he was fine, and suited the role. (and he was good in "Safety Not Guaranteed"). I like the cast in general, liked the mix of personalities and the rapport between them. I thought it was funny how Michael and Tina would go off the rails, for example. While not as sharp as Red Dwarf, it has the same 'band of misfits lost in space', vibe. Which might be why it held me (after Joel and Trace drew me in).
Also, I wonder if the name Art was a bit of a nod to Art Crow?
So yeah, I just finished up with the series and quite enjoyed it, and hope we get a season 2.

It wasn't as funny as I'd hoped based on the trailers, but it was still cute. They left it open so they'll have more to explore and discover if they have a Season 2. The new alien seems to indicate that's what they're going for.

Six episodes in and I'm really enjoying this. It's the perfect mix of funny, sci-fi, and camp for my tastes. I'm also pleasantly surprised by the solid character work. Also, obviously, it's great to see Joel and hear Trace on TV again.

I liked it, too, even if it's a little bit uneven. I thought Karan Soni was a bit grating at first, as well, but he started to grow on me about halfway through the season. Really, the whole cast is pretty good, especially the actors who play Kent, Michael and Natasha. And while it's beyond awesome to see Joel and Trace working on a show again, I admit they almost take me out of it too much. I love Joel to death, he's a hero of mine and is one of the greatest comedic minds of our generation, but I'm not sure just how great an actor he is. He cruises through on his laid-back personality style (and has plenty of hilarious moments), and that's enough for me, but it's odd to see him in this. He's good, but he'll always be Joel Robinson to me. One thing that did kind of bug me though - {The Cruiser of Love}We're only eight episodes in, and we've already had so many hookups among characters it seems like it was some kind of race. Only Stewart, Zalien and ART haven't slept with another member of the crew (some of them with multiple members of the crew). Even the mostly-human Kent and the virtual Natasha have apparently hooked up, and ART did sit and watch Stewart's lurid dreams via monitor. I enjoy that kind of relationship humor, but my god, let's save some for another season. Anyway, I'll be around for the second season, if they have one.
