On Sept 1st Shout Factory will Re-Release MST3K Vol 1. Originally released by Rhino Titles include: 204 Catalina Caper, 606 The Creeping Terror, 607 Bloodlust and 609 The Skydivers. To double dip or not to double dip. That is the question. More info on extras and what not over on Satellite News www.mst3kinfo.com/?p=20199

Since I don't have Volume 1, it's an easy purchase.

If it's cheaper than a normal set? Maybe I will get it.
I'll definitely get a re-release of Vol. 2, as my disc for Cave Dwellers has a crack in it (still plays, for now) and I could always use another copy of Pod People.

Excellent news! While I have all the sets from Shout thus far, I haven't yet gotten any Rhino sets to add to my collection, so this is great for newer fans like me to get the OOP episodes without costing me an arm and a leg. The new extras are the icing on the cake too.

I agree Triple_sSs, I will most likely pick this one up on the double dip. Especially if they have the mini-posters along with the extras. In the past the Shout Factory prints are much cleaner and just look better over all than the Rhino Prints. This makes me wonder if they will do the same thing with Vol II. Since my Rhino Copy of The Cave Dwellers is kaput

All of the movies are owned by CI so that probably helped. I hope we get a re-release of vol 2 so we can get an interview with Miles O'Keefe and Greydon Clark.

Hopefully that means the SRP is cheaper than new volumes (under $40).

I already have Volume I (and all of the Rhino sets), and its fine that they are re-releasing it for all those that do not have it. I probably won’t (re)buy it, because the video quality (tape hits, etc) have surely worsened since the Rhino release–most of the eps in the original set were free of video/audio issues, but 607-Bloodlust already had quite a lot of tape hits in the Rhino release.
I’m sure the transfer will be better from Shout, and the extras would be nice but it will not make up for the degradation that will definitely rear its head on the masters that were not properly preserved.

It does say *upgraded presentation* on top of the new extras so maybe they will look better, or at the very least, produced using the latest technology .. ?

Doesn't look like the unMSTed movies from the Rhino set are included in this new set.

According to Facebook this is a single case DVD - I wonder what the inside will look like.. I hope that they are not planning all 4 movies on a single DVD - or stacking DVDs on top of each other, that causes scratching on the discs !

My library has the 20th Anniversary and XXIV sets, and that's how they store both.
