so these will be 4 slim cases discs in the regular DVD case ? No, it's a slimline case with four slots. It'll probably look like this:

I can understand why they are taking these re-releases one step at a time with no commitment for a volume 2 and beyond. Volume 1 re-print is a great idea, especially with the extras, but who knows if it will sell as good as the new sets. I also wonder if it is even possible for Shout to do these sequentially. Aren't there rights issues with some sets from 2-12? Personally, I want Shout to re-release volume 9, the only set I am missing (though I did recently rent the discs through Netflix and copied the disc images to my hard drive).
It would be awesome for some fan to create Shout-style slimline art for volume 1, for fans who like consistency.

In the comment section on Shout someone asked about future re-releases and the response from Shout was a little more encouraging:
"Can't say for sure. No official plans as of now."

Actually it's a Standard size 14mm DVD case that holds 4 discs. You couldn't fit 4 discs into a slimline case--either the 7mm or 9mm variety.

Got the shipping notice overnight, which means it'll be at my home on Saturday. Looking forward to it.

Do we get new DVD menus with this set?

New menus, anamorphic, very basic. The Bloodlust, Catalina Caper and Creeping Terror ones are static, while the Skydivers one has Tom parachuting, much like the Rhino version. No new animations or puppets.

Still debating whether or not I want to get this. The early Rhino releases had superior video to Shout's stuff, and if their re-releases of Mitchell, Brain That Wouldn't Die, and Manos are anything to go by, the masters haven't aged well in the 12 years since. I am interested in the new features (would be even more interested if a full blown documentary on Creeping Terror were included), but am satisfied with my old, admittedly beaten up set. Of course, a new non-rare set would mean I could retire my old one into a rarities collection.
What to do, what to do...

Really annoyed with Shout at the moment. I received my DVD in a timely manner, and the packaging was secure... but some bozo at their warehouse had the bright idea to use a box cutter to open the container and slice clear through the outer plastic, the cover art, and in the inside case. Seeing as the latest volume is delayed thanks to Amazon Canada, I was hoping to catch the special features on Vol. 1 tonight. But I'm afraid opening it will void my return. At the same time, it'll be a headache to go through the exchange process for a release where the reason I paid a little more than Amazon was to receive it a month early. But at this point I'm hoping Shout will reply soon with a solution (I suggested sending me a new case or cover art) or I'll just send it back and give Amazon my money.

All is well, Shout promised to send me a replacement case and cover art. Nice of them to, as the case is clear plastic which are hard to come by, especially in the four disc variety.

Actually showed up today. The Creep Behind The Camera looks… creepy. My wife and I watched THE CREEP BEHIND THE CAMERA last night, it was fantastic, hilarious, a little shocking... and, yes, VERY creepy. All of my questions about THE CREEPING TERROR have basically been answered.

Shout is doing a great job. It was a factor in my choice not to reopen my site.
