Wow! Thanks for posting that, ProjectedPaul! I forgot that they were going to announce the new titles at Comic Con this time. Glad someone brought that to our attention for dopes like me who can't remember simple facts about their own favorite show.
Another great set--although in my opinion, I don't think given the remaining unreleased titles that there will be a BAD set. I love every episode of MST3k to varying degrees (98% love, hate none), and I visit every episode on a regular basis, cause I think they all have something special. I only have 4 episodes that I visit less than others--and even those four have gotten better with time for me. However, despite anyone's care, here are my quick thoughts on the episodes:
317-Viking Women and the Sea Serpent - Very underrated episode... I know that the waffle host segments--even admitted by the Brains themselves--was a lazy running gag and one of their worst WTF moments, and they went on vacation shortly after this episode was complete--but I think its oddly humorous. Plus, I don't really judge episodes based on host segments. When the host segments are funny or memorable, that just adds to the fun. But the riffing in this one is solid, and I typically enjoy the Corman movies. Yeah, they pretty much all stink, but they're fun to me, so back off. Plus, this is the most gorgeous cast of ladies ever assembled in an MST3k movie. Susan Cabot is an absolute dream. Really like this episode.
319-War of the Colossal Beast - Of course features one of the best (or at least memorable) shorts in MST3k history. Yes, Mr. B is probably the best thing about this episode, but the movie is still big and dumb and a hoot. Its no Amazing Colossal Man, but its a good one. "Glen, put that bus down... Glen..."
806-The Undead - The theme of XXXIV is ALMOST, the gorgeous ladies box set--with 319 being the only exception. I'm really not trying to "perve-out", but Allison Hayes and Pamela Duncan--va-va-voom!!! Despite that eye-candy, this used to be a "now, what the hell happened in that episode?" episode, but its since become a favorite--even a go-to episode. Its goofy and pointless and clearly another situation where Corman had a small woods set and a few left-over costumes, so "let's shoot a movie!" I like it, but Billy Barty is impish, if not a bit on the short side.
808-The She Creature - Again, with the lovely ladies--Maria English is neat... but don't get too excited, fellas, cause Dr. Lombardi's face will ruin your evening. This was also a bit of an "I remember liking this episode, but not sure what happened at all" episode. Now I find it to be a dark, dismal delight... The jokes about Lance Fuller's lack of performance are enough for the price of admission.
Good set, & me likey... And obviously, all signs point that they've cracked the Corman Code, so that's extra special. Here's hoping "Deathstalker & the Warriors from Hell" sees the light of day. That's all's I'm sayin'...
Bye

War of the Colossal Beasts is one of my favorite eps.
Viking Woman is an underrated gem (and I like the Waffle skits)
The Undead, rock solid fun
She Creature is a rather dry flick and the riffers sometimes struggle with that. But there are enough laughs to make it worth a watch. Plus it has one of Beez's favorite creations, the Carlo Lombardi doll (she did the costume for it).
So all told I'm pleased with the set.

Good to see they're making good use of the Arkoff license. I'm a little saddened this set doesn't have 12 to the Moon and Riding with Death though, finishing off those Columbia and Universal deals with two of their best episodes.
As for the episodes, I LOVE Viking Women. Absolutely love it. I'd rather have Colossal Man than Colossal Beast, but since my copy of Colossal Beast snapped in half about a year ago an official copy is welcome news. I love season eight, and Undead is fairly solid for the most part, but She Creature is a bit of a chore.

I really like this set. Sea Serpent is goofy fun, and it has a fun short in The Home Economics Story. Colossal Beast is a lot of fun, and I am probably in the minority here but I liked it better than Colossal Man, The Undead is a fun episode, and The She-Creature is a spooky, dreary treat.

I'm satisfied with this one. Two Joel-era eps. that feature a couple of my all-time favorite shorts, and personally I was always amused by the silliness of the "waffle" stuff. I've seen Undead maybe twice, and thought it was "OK", and I've also seen She-Creature when it first aired but I couldn't tell you anything about it. So although these two Mike episodes clearly underwhelmed me upon initial viewing, I'm happy to be re-visiting them. Curious what the extras will be.
Oh, and I agree with Ray that Colossal Beast is a slightly better episode overall than the original Colossal Man episode.

Anyone know when this set will be available for pre-order? Based on past sets? I assumed it will be soon after the "Official Release" of MST3K Vol XXXIII. They announced early at Comic Con this year, like they did last year. Normally the announcement of the next set is within a week of the release of their latest set. If you ordered your set through Shout, you got your set 2 weeks early. If you're like me and ordered through Amazon you will get your set on the 28th of July. So I expect that you will be able to pre-order around Aug 1st at the latest.

I'm assuming they're not offering it for sale yet, so as to not draw potential money away from the rerelease of Volume 1. Once that's released on Sept 1, Volume XXXIV should be available for sale.
