Has anyone ever tried the game Microscope? It's like a roleplaying game, but you're playing the role of an entire timeline instead of a character. Like, you pick a "big picture" at the start of the game (something like "The Rise and Fall of New Rome" or "Humans leave a dying Earth behind and settle the stars" or "Three civilizations join together to become one" or something) and the you take turns creating Periods of history, Events within those periods, or Scenes within the events. Only the Scenes contain actual roleplaying.
Anyway, I tried my first game last night, and it's awesome. We started with a concept I wasn't sure about ("The history of seven fingered people" became "The rise and decline of the Septarians"), and despite the unusual premise it caught my attention and sucked me in really quickly. I want to know more about Septaris Falsehuman and his desire to create a home for his people among the five-fingered humans now.
Anyway... I recommend this for anyone who likes a sense of wonder or exploration or storytelling in your roleplaying games.
