The main complaint I remember most people making years ago was the whole "Pearl in the theater" gimmick, and many citing Mary Jo as a poor deliverer of riffs. What always bothered me about the "Pearl and Mike trade places" scenario is it was fairly uncreative compared to what they did in Season 6's "Last of the Wild Horses" where we end up seeing Dr. F and Frank in the theater due to a "Mirror, Mirror" situation, while in "Quest of the Delta Knights", it only occurs simply because Pearl just felt like switching places. Overall though it's a fine episode. Also, it's funny to me that *Richard Kind* is in this film. I mean, yeah there's nothing too odd about that, it's just he's one of those actors you'd never expect to turn up in a MST'ed film. I was okay with that change, personally, though I can definitely understand why it might not sit well with some people. It seems to me that a temperamental person like Pearl might just have a whim to get a first-hand look at the movie-viewing experience, and she's a new enough scientist (and a mad enough one) to not worry about what that does to the control group. And... yeah, Richard Kind showing up is one of those quirky little surprises. It makes sense that you'll occasionally get people like him in these movies, but still.

I enjoy this episode and it might be in a top 25 for me. I enjoy the Hanson references, the jabs at "Leonardo DaCompletely Ineffectual" and all the renaissance festival jokes which they never seemed to tire of making. How bad an experience did these writers have at a ren fest?

I always liked this one...probably one of my favourite fantasy episodes they did as well as one of the newest films.

Another thing I love is host segment 3 where the "real" Leonardo Da Vinci appears in the Hexfield Viewscreen. It makes *absolutely no sense* but it's still hilarious (and the fact they gave him a "street thug" type demeanor), and is one of those moments where you have to take the "it's just a show, I should really just relax" thing to heart.

Oh, I loved that. It was a weirdly appropriate moment. Though between it and Futurama, I think I developed this belief that sci-fi writers were all about the concept of Leonardo daVinci being a sort of immortal/time traveling genius who got to space before anyone else using the basics of Renaissance Science.

Fun fact: The model for the Mona Lisa was a woman from the future when mankind had evolved beyond eyebrows.

At least it wasn't the Terror From The Year 5000.

I've always enjoyed it just because it's so goofy. You can't deny the appeal of David Warner throwing Wizard Whizz.
Or maybe you can...
