Anyone else doing any meteor viewing this year? I almost forgot about it, but someone reminded me right before bed. About two hours from now I'm going to a lake to see if I can see many.

Any luck? I used to live 10 miles from the nearest street light in one of the least light-polluted areas in the country. The Milky Way was so vivid it looked like you could crawl up into it.
A good meteor shower is awesome. Haven't tried to take one in for a while.

I used to live in an awesome back-woods country area that had the best stars ever. Sadly, I now live in a city (which isn't a factor) and am visiting my grandmother in the city she lives (which IS a factor.) There's a nearby lake, and we decided to go there, but there was a giant street lamp right at the dock. We eventually drove elsewhere to a place on a highway with no lights.
All in all, I saw a good amount. And a couple of bats, too.

I live in an urban area with a pretty bad light pollution problem. It'd be nice if I could see a meteor shower from my family's country house, but alas, we're going to have to sell that place soon.

I need to move somewhere where there's some SKY! I can see meteors okay sometimes, but it still isn't the greatest with the streetlights. I never feel like driving somewhere dark at 2 or 4 o'clock in the morning.
My family went on a trip to Maine one year, some time ago, and we were driving at night and the road was pitch black. We had to pull over in amazement and kill the headlights. The sky was just so clear and incredible. Never seen so many stars, and the milky way. The Perseid shower that night was really something to see. There was just meteor after meteor, they were all over the frelling place, it was great.

I stayed out about an hour on Wednesday night and saw 21 meteors - naturally, I'm not counting the 'corner of your eye' and 'so faint it may have just been a reflection in my glasses' moments.
In honor of the Perseids I have an urge to watch Clash of the Titans...
