Sorry for your loss. Here's hoping it was just "nature's way".

Sorry for your loss. Here's hoping it was just "nature's way". Thank you. I don't know if it WAS the grit, just checking. He had stopped singing for a while, that usually happens when they molt, but I didn't see a whole lot of feathers as I usually did, so maybe he HAD been sick. It's hard to tell with birds.

And now, I'm absolutely devastated. My baby cat that I had for 18 years had to be put down this morning. He was in pretty rough shape. You always wonder if you did all you could do and feel guilty having to make those decisions for them.
This has been a bad year.
I just buried him. I'm so upset...

RIP kitty. Putting down an animal is one of the toughest things. 18 years is a good run for a cat but sorry for your loss.

Hang in there, Schmo. Losing a beloved pet is harsh, but we're all here for you.

Aww, I'm sorry about this. Having to put down an animal is awful. I had to say goodbye to my dog a couple years back, and the whole time I was telling myself that it was the right decision even though everything about it just felt so bad.

Thank you. I know that feeling. One moment, he's looking at me, then he's gone. It's just gut-wrenching.

I'm pretty sure I just saw a yellow parakeet flying by today. It was shaped that way and had that kind of tweet. Definitely wasn't a Monk parakeet as those are green, and it was a little smaller. Too big to be a goldfinch and, as I said, had the shape of a parakeet (and the sound).
I was hoping it would come back so we could do this thing again. It's been chilly at night so far this year and I don't know if he/she will be able to tolerate it.
This seems to be the area for escaped birds to fly by.
Hope it finds someplace warm to sleep.

When I was sleeping last night, I could have sworn I felt my cat jumping up on the bed and settling down next to me. It felt so real. It woke me up. That happened last year, too. I was sleeping and I felt the cat, and heard him purring, loudly, and I was petting his head. It was very intense.

My ex-wife got our two Yorkies when we divorced. They were supposed to be the kids dogs but the one that is officially my daughters quickly attached to my ex-wife. He became her dog by his choice not ours. She had to keep Teacup and it wouldn't be fair to separate them so she kept both. The other one loved all of us equally. The younger one, Munchkin is my avatar. It's been two years and I still miss them. There's a Yorkie living across the street and every time I hear him I think its Munchkin or Teacup. But Munchkin is 14 and is sick. We got a scare a few weeks ago when my ex had to go out of town and my daughter thought that he was on death's door. But it turned out he just threw up a few times like he's always done. But he's got serious medical issues and its just a matter of time and I'm dreading it. They live 200 miles away from me and I can't even be there for him. I'll really miss him when he's gone even though I haven't seen him in over a year.
Its really amazing just how much love a pet can bring.

Thank you.
That's the dog that once went after a bear to protect his family. True story. He went outside to do his business in our back yard in New Hampshire and I heard him barking. I could tell by his bark he was really serious about something. When I looked he was in a stand off with a fully grown black bear. I yelled at him to come back and the bear ran off. He trotted back to me all proud of himself.
