www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/wes-craven-horror-maestro-dies-818806Very sad news, especially for us horror fans. The Hills Have Eyes and A Nightmare on Elm Street are classics, and both of them were important stepping stones to my life long love of the macabre. Some of his films weren't so great, but most of them are thoroughly entertaining, if a bit silly at times. Beyond that, I've gleaned from his bio and in interviews that he was a very kind and thoughtful man, with the mind of an academic. RIP

Sad to hear this. I think Serpent and the Rainbow is still freaky as hell - very underrated.
Rest well, sir.

Both Shocker and The People Under the Stairs are goofy as hell, but there are a lot of interesting ideas being kicked around, and I still enjoy watching them to this day.

Wow, this is unexpected. I was never a huge follower of his work and only saw one of his films in theaters, but his impact to the world of horror stories, and of movie making in general, is unquestionably noteworthy. Sad day.
