I like the line "You know, I've never met a robot who beeped". Is it a subtle reference to Tom Servo's prototype Beeper? Beeper only appeared with Crow and Gypsy, right? That's the same impression I got.

That was to be honest really good, I was already on board for the new guys but this really cements it

Ok so apparently they aren't even operating the puppets themselves. Does this bother anyone else?

OK, that last shot of Crow's head on C3PO's body was pure nightmare fuel, but, otherwise, nice to see that Crow still has an edge.

That was absolutely hilarious. Hampton was on fire and it sold me a bit on Baron also.
You know, I always thought that Crow and Servo were at least slightly influenced by C-3P0 and R2-D2, maybe even subconsciously. Crow was a slender golden robot that mostly spoke English while Servo's original incarnation was a blocky bot that spoke only in beeps.

Ok so apparently they aren't even operating the puppets themselves. Does this bother anyone else? It does a little, though I think I can live with it. There's definitely a tradition of the bots always being operated by their puppeteers barring a few side scenes where that would've been complicated, but I also don't think it's really a need, per se. Though nothing beats the connection between an individual puppeteer's hand/mouth coordination, I imagine.

Maybe they'll try practicing the puppeteering next year before they start the new episodes, so perhaps they just hired some other professionals in the meantime.

I think the puppeteer on Satellite News said he's been working Crow since *last* Turkey Day...so I suspect they're filling in to give the new guys a chance to learn the ropes. That said, even if that doesn't happen, I'm not sure it'll be so bad. It might limit some improv opportunities, but that's about it.

I get that it might not be so bad, but operating yout own puppet is an MST tradition. Joel's already asking us to accept a lot of changes right now. I don't think this needs to change.

They should just build real robots and pass them off as puppets. It would be so meta.

I guess I would be a bit surprised if they didn't actually do their own puppetry by the time the new episodes start. It seems like it would be more complicated doing it with separate voice and puppet performers.

Puppets are actually harder to operate than most people think. I expect they will probably need some time to learn how to. Hopefully someone like Netflix or Hulu will pick up the show and they'll have many seasons to get good at it.
