TONIGHT WE HAVE CHOSEN NOT TO RENEW THE ARMAGEDDON DUE TO LOW RATINGS! Is that different enough from the famous line? Good. Today's review is Atlantic Rim, the most original film ever featured on the show! Content Warning: I get pretty ranty about episode reception in this one. Brace yourselves. Next Time: I thought it was alright if I picked a little fight. Bonanza?

So I noticed that you placed Prehistoric Women in its proper order. Which I've thought of doing, but haven't because, well I've never gone back and watched an old season in order, I just watch when the mood for en episode strikes. Plus, we die-hards know the score anyway - but still... I have thought of switching it on the index and listing it at the end where it belongs
Do we know if there are instances of this happening elsewhere? I don't mean them being shown out of order (Herc was shown first in season 5, Merlin, last in season 10 - but production # are correct), but are there other experiments that fans suspect might be out of production order?

There probably are, but none have been as glaring as Prehistoric Planet, so I've always been a proponent of not placing that episode fourth. I don't think there is any concrete evidence either way outside of what's in the episode itself. Even during MST live streams this year, J. Elvis claims that The Black Scorpion was the last episode filmed, so it's possible that Prehistoric Planet was filmed a little bit earlier than last (or it's being misremembered based on production notes).
I think Chris Cornell said in the SN episode guide that he suspects that other episodes were produced out of production order, but we don't have any real info on it so he just goes by the production order method. Outside of Prehistoric Planet, I agree, but that's one I can't concede on and use it as an exception and not the rule.

I'm watching it again, as I want to reassess it, as a season-ender, but also in light of recent incidences of violence against Asians, how does a film from 1966, that addresses racism, handle that issue?
But as it's playing, it's clearly an episode that was recorded later, whether before or after Black Scorpion. I'm not laughing like mad, but the delivery is much smoother, there's a snappy energy you don't get in the first 3 episodes, much more like what's to come in season 2. If production orders are off elsewhere, as you said, it's not as glaring.
It aired last, so it seems more appropriate to place it there than as the 4th spot.

BTW - there's a callback riff to Black Scorpion, Joel says "Thou Shalt Not Ki..." and Crow admonishes, "Hey that was in the other show." so I think I'm going to pull the trigger, just makes better sense if readers go through the blog pages one after the other, to go to this after Scorpion.

Good catch! I think that settles it.

That forklift drives into the sunset as we say goodbye to the Star Wolf saga, the show I'm absolutely certain is better than The Mandalorian even though I refuse to watch The Mandalorian to find out. Today's review is the thrilling conclusion Star Force: Fugitive Alien II! And on the back of that, another volume is complete, and it's a stellar one. Three outstanding episodes and a landmark departure highlight Volume XXIV! Next Time: "It's called Me-Ite!"

There's a new host on MST3K. His name is Mike. I don't like him. His first episode is The Brain That Wouldn't Die, so check out the review before this show gets cancelled for jumping the shark. Also, an overview of MST3K's long and curious journey through Single DVD Releases. Let's collect the show in the most expensive way possible: one episode at a time. Following that up is a celebration of a quarter century of MST3K. It's the six episode DVD set Shout created to commemorate the occasion: 25th Anniversary Edition. Last but not least, the most unlikely page I ever wrote. MST3K in HD? Thank you? It's an overview of MST3K's Blu-Ray releases. What an amazing crystal clear picture of an SD copy of a grainy, fuzzy movie! Next Time: "...my boat..."

Interesting - I just wrote about Brain (most likely) being my first ever write-up.
Nice review and I like the DVD info... never knew there was a foreign version, with an alt scene.
"I loooove this place" - I wonder how many younger fans will know that as a Burger King slogan and commercial? (the camera work was similar)

Why does it need to be a SHE-creature? More like WOKE-creature! Watch MST go full SJW in our review of The She-Creature! Watch it only if you're a soyboy! Next Time: Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Netflix.
