Super heroes are all the rage right now, but what I really want is a pulp hero. Someone with an ongoing series of adventures with inexplicable resolutions! Impossible cliffhangers that get reedited for the next episode or issue! Hard-boiled rocketship captains and bombastic detectives! Cops with names like Police Justice who go on Dracula-menaced space operas!
Basically, I don't want to have to wait for midnight on NPR to *maybe* get a nice serial adventure I've never heard before, and the comic shop has a lot of fine entries but... they cost as much as $2.99 now. They cost *more* than $2.99 if you read Marvel. Heck, I think even a few Archie titles are creeping over three bucks these days now that they've had successes with their Death Of Archie, Afterlife With Archie, and (of course) the surprising-but-inevitable Glee crossover. Though that doesn't make sense to me as a true crossover since I don't think you can really have members of the Riverdale Gang showing up on an episode of Glee. I mean, even if it wasn't cancelled, that just seems unlikely.
...right, sorry, pulp heroes! Kinda went on a tangent there. Anyway, I'm crowdsourcing some new adventures here. First step: what style of pulp hero should this be? And what should his or her name be? And I'm not saying super powers can't be a thing... but let's not box ourselves in just yet here.
Don't worry about the broader specifics yet... though a little brainstorming for down the line likely won't hurt. So... who'll ya vote for? A detective like Dick Tracy or Johnny Dollar? An aristocrat like Scrooge McDuck or Daddy Warbucks? A space hero like Commando Cody or Prince of Space? CHOOSE!
And toss out some names for your favorite hero type. Whatever he or she is, we'll need some name to plaster over the magazine covers.
