Alright so Joel has not really even given us a clue as to what movies he plans to gain the rights for in Season 11. There is literally millions of movies that it could be, because as we all know, some of these movies can be made in the director's backyard (and some of them literally have *Cough*Undead*Cough*). Still, what fun would it be if we couldn't venture an educated guess.
So I know it's cheap and stupid, but I was thinking that perhaps they were going to do one of the old Ator movies, or even Deathstalker, I know they made a fourth Deathstalker movie.
It's safe to say that Battlefield Earth, and Birdemic are not on the menu. Battlefield Earth would be ridiculously expensive to buy the rights to, and Birdemic... well it just doesn't have the right pallet. Still, there are such greats as Plan 9 from Outer Space or Return to Salem's Lot.
Thoughts and Theories?

I'd like to revisit Ator and Deathstalker, but I think I'd prefer the first episode to be a cheesy sci-fi movie, preferably of the "rocketship lands on a strange new planet..." variety.
This came up in the General Chat forum's season 11 topic, but while a part of me will always yearn for Plan 9, I think I'd rather they do movies that I've never heard of. I was riffing on Plan 9 with my dad before I knew what MST3K was, so I sorta feel like I've already done that. (Meanwhile, I've got no troubles with Rifftrax doing Plan 9 because, unlike MST3K, Rifftrax doesn't really have an upper limit on the number of episodes that they do.)

I like to be surprised by the movies they watch, so I offer no theories on what they might be. I just trust that they'll be good ol' fashioned bad movies like always.
But the first words out of Jonah's mouth as soon as he enters the theater in the first episode need to be "-segment with Crow?" That would be hilarious, and a deliciously obscure reference only those who watched the telethon would get.

Agreed--I saw Trace and Frank riff on Plan 9 in St. Louis on Saturday and, while it was a pleasure to see them and hear them riff in person, I was slightly (just slightly) bummed to see them doing a movie that I've seen so many times. The new MST movies need to have a a dug-out-of-the-bargain bin at a video store going out of business sale vibe to them.

Well, we have a Holiday Special and a Mark Hamill cameo coming up - if they somehow got the Mouse to cough up the rights to the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special, that'd have the potential to be the best episode ever.
Some other stuff I think would be great for the show:
Yor, Hunter From The Future - or really any other movie starring Reb "Big McLargeHuge" Brown. Fist of Fear, Touch of Death - a bizarre "documentary" about Bruce Lee that falsified every single detail. Tons of goofy moments, stock footage from other movies, and so on. Fantasy Mission Force - Jackie Chan "stars" (really an extended cameo) in this World War II movie featuring amazon women, a haunted house, sumo wrestlers, road warriors, and Abraham Lincoln. No, really.

I don't think the Star Wars Holiday special is the right type of [movie?] for MST3K. As they have said, a movie has to be the right kind of pallet, which is why we will never see Elves, The Room, Samurai Cop or any of the like. I think what they go for is bad movies that were supposed to be good movies, that is the best kind of movie that they riff. There are a few exceptions to the rule (ie Wild World of Batwoman and Hobgoblins.) So no, The SW Holiday Special is 99% guaranteed not to be riffed by MST3K. Those other movies you mentioned have potential though, especially Yor. It'd be nice to see a Reb Brown movie again.

If they could wrangle the rights from WB, three of the four Gamma One films (plus The Green Slime!) would be perfect for the show.

I just pray that the show isn't entirely geared towards the "younger" internet-savvy generation... because god damn, I am not internet-savvy.

I just pray that the show isn't entirely geared towards the "younger" internet-savvy generation... because god damn, I am not internet-savvy. I don't think they're trying to gear it toward the younger generations. I think Joel is acknowledging that there's a risk of suddenly being geared only toward older generations, though. I mean, don't get me wrong: I love a Burma Shave joke as much as the next guy, but Burma Shave themselves stopped making those signs a major part of their advertising over twenty years before I was born. I only know about Burma Shave jokes because I had parents who could explain Burma Shave to me. Twenty years later, I'll still find a Burma Shave joke funny, but you can't say I was really part of the demographic that Burma Shave jokes were geared for, even if I appreciate them. I'm hoping that the show will not be geared toward younger generations so much as it'll be inclusive of younger generations. We can keep Burma Shave jokes, or jokes about Nickelodeons, movies from the 1920s, Greek tragedies, Shakespeare, and musical terminology, but there's also no reason not to include a few jokes about Guardians of the Galaxy, Gravity Falls, Pokemon, Over The Garden Wall, or Team Fortress 2 (I've probably dated myself with this list, honestly; TF2 is well over five years old and Pokemon's heyday was in the 90s. Still, I'd like to think I make an attempt...)

I certainly hope they do shorts, though. That should be mandatory.

I posted a lot of ideas for movies in the thread in General Chat, but this is my prediction for Season 11. Apart from the Christmas movie (which already has a Ballyhoo doc), the other movies have all been shown in HD on television in the past.
Experiment #1101: It's Alive! (1969) Experiment #1102: The Neanderthal Man (1953) Experiment #1103: The Tomb (1986) Experiment #1104: Gappa, the Triphibian Monster (1967) Experiment #1105: Creation of the Humanoids (1962) Experiment #1106: The Atomic Submarine (1959) Experiment #1107: Werewolves on Wheels (1971) Experiment #1108: The Devil's Rain (1975) Experiment #1109: The Christmas That Almost Wasn't (1966) Experiment #1110: Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster (1965) Experiment #1111: Destination Inner Space (1966) Experiment #1112: Octaman (1971) Experiment #1113: In the Year 2889 (1967) Experiment #1114: The Mighty Peking Man (1977)
If I get even one right, I'll be pretty happy!

1962's Journey to the Seventh Planet is getting a Blu-ray release from Kino Lorber. That one would be wonderful for season 11, if indeed it is licensable.
I just hope they don't go for what the German offshoot of MST3K does. (The team that did a German dub for the 1996 MST3K movie now has a show called SchleFaZ, short for Schlechteste Filme aller Zeiten - The Worst Films of All Time.) Every second film they take on is something like Sharknado - films that are intentionally (maybe even cynically) bad. That, to me, betrays the purity of riffing films that were made with the best of intentions but had the misfortune to fail.
