You know, I'm getting sick of hearing about these talented people dying at 70 or 69 because of cancer. I loved Alan Rickman - Hans Gruber is one of the all-time best.
Rest well, sir.

need to see this movie again. It's also proof that Tim Allen did a good movie that wasn't Toy Story related .

Yeah, I was also pretty surprised to hear about it.
I liked him in Dogma, and had forgotten he was in Harry Potter too.

Yes, this does suck. I, too, was shocked when I learned of this. I hadn't known he had cancer. This actually hit me pretty hard, I'm trying to write an HP fanfic and his Snape character has been in the forefront of my mind for a good while now, so in a weird way it's kind of like hearing this about someone I kind of know, if that makes sense. I'm really bummed and depressed about this. When I saw it in the paper I was just thinking, "Aww, no."
He was one the better actors out there, I think, and I just always liked him in whatever I saw him in. Even if his characters were supposed to be jerks, I always liked HIM.
Just very sad.
Good night, sweet prince.

Also: He had the best voice in the business, even better than James Earl Jones.

I'm hard-pressed to think of a better one. This is from a recent New York Post article but I remember when the study came out. This is a man, after all, that science literally found to have nearly the perfect voice: A 2008 study from a group of British scientists claimed to find an equation that measured “tone, speed, frequency, words per minute and intonation,” according to the BBC. Topping the list were Alan Rickman and Jeremy Irons. It goes on to mention that Irons played Rickman's brother in one of the Die Hard movies, which to me looks like an attempt by the producers to capture a bit of that Rickman/Hans magic. Irons is very good in the role, and with his voice he does have a bit of Rickman in him, but the character just doesn't work as well.

Is it just me, or does he bare a striking resemblance to Trace?
