All of we know (via Rifftrax's Twitter) is that it has to due with nebulous "rights issues". Some think it has to do with James Horner being involved with the music, but I think that's just a guess based on him being the most famous person involved with the movie.

So, does anybody think those "rights issues" were actually pertaining to that other riffing show using this movie?
I suppose they wanted all of the movies on this show to be brand new in terms of getting riffed, and politely asked Rifftrax to take it down. Rifftrax did put it up around the same time this show said they were looking for movie rights.
I wonder if Rifftrax will put it back up after this show comes out. They don't seem to have a problem re-riffing movies already featured on the other show.

Having just seen that episode, I'm kinda curious how the RiffTrax version compares (if I can ever get my hands on it). We've seen MST3K films get re-riffed by RiffTrax, but here it's the other way around!

It's possible the folks over at RiffTrax didn't clear it through Roger Corman's people.
