I just realized--if the rumors that we're hearing are true--that they are shooting all of the eps at once, and that all the host seg actors are only going to be all together for a few days to a week (depending on various rumors), that would mean that even if Kevin, Bill and Mary Jo were only coming in for a day to put on the make up and costumes to do cameos, there's no reason why their cameos couldn't be spread through multiple eps of the season.

What I want to know is if they'll do a proper "passing of the voices" with Crow and Servo. It seems a waste not to with Murphy and Corbett on-hand. I envision a scene with Kinga breaking into the garden-level apartment shown in "Diabolik" to kidnap the bots, jostling their personality chips in the process (or whatever). Mike, of course, is knocked unconscious after his white rice is spilled in the ruckus, the poor dope.

I agree. They did it kind-of with Crow in Season 8, being thousands of years older than last seen. And, they did it with Tom in Season 2 with Joel putting in a new voice circuit or whatever. But this time, since they actually have the voices back they could do a whole bit or two through the first ep with it. Should be fun.
I would really love it if there was a super surprise cameo with Mike in the first scene or two, but I have a feeling that they wouldn't be able to keep it a secret and we would have heard by now. Of course when it comes to Joel cameos, anything is possible. I didn't really get the vibe that he was going to be in front of the camera at all, but then with Kevin,Bill and MJ coming back, I see no reason why he couldn't too.

Yeah, I have little doubt Mike would be game for being flown in for a single appearance in the beginning, if Joel and the team were interested in pursuing that.
I just know I'm delighted by the mental image of Beez or whomever having to find the old Bobo and Observer costumes in the boxes that got shipped from MN. I don't believe stuff like that was part of the BBI auction.

I kind of brought this up in another thread, but I've gotten to the point where I don't really care that former cast members are coming back to do some bits. If it happens, well, great, but I've already spent too much time wondering about it all.
I mean, if they're going to have the whole cast together at once, why not just have Kevin and Bill reprise their roles in full? Or at least puppeteer the bots?
Seriously, it's 2016. The old MST3K is long gone. I loved it, but it's a new era. Let the new guys be the new guys. If they lay down some backstory for the last 17 years, great, but I don't want or need a Mike/Joel cameo or Bill and Kevin handing the voices over to the Baron and Hampton or weird winks to the fans. Just give me the new adventures of MST3K.

Seriously, it's 2016. The old MST3K is long gone. I loved it, but it's a new era. Let the new guys be the new guys. While I pretty much agree with everything you're saying, it will definitely not hurt the feel of the new eps to have a bridge to the previous cast. And we still have the bots and all that so it's not really a completely new era with new guys. We still have Tom and Crow and Gypsy after all, some of our favorite characters!
This show has been kept alive all these years by fans who love the original eps and watch them over and over. It's not like Veronica Mars where there was a seven year gap. We're talking an eighteen year gap. That's a long time to hang with a show that's not being made anymore. And those devoted people love the old characters so it's natural they want to see some overlap to what they are so familiar with.
