Binge watching a show is something I really only ever do when I am at home sick or some other weird situation like that. I do know that binge watching has become quite the rage with these wacky kids nowadays, what with their NetFlix's and Hulu's and what nots. While I am not sure that MST3K is a show that necessarily lends itself to binge watching, I am in no position to judge anyone who chooses to.
So....How will you watch?
I will probably watch one a day at most and maybe only one a week, just to savor it.
What say you? Thank You, won't you?

While I am excited that the series has landed on Netflix, I really want to watch the blu-rays first. But I don't know what the gap will be, and I am hoping it is not a long one.
If the wait isn't too long, I may catch the premiere via the live-streaming online thingy and then patiently await the rest of the series.
I'm interested to see how they will handle the Christmas episode, because to see it release in early 2017 would be odd. I'd almost say I'd wait until holiday 2017 to see the Christmas episode.
I should note, I'm an avid Netflix and Hulu user, but I just really love MST3K on DVD/blu-ray and since I backed at the $200 level I would really like to make use of the blu-rays and not just have them for rewatching.

Do we know for sure these are all going to be released at once? I can't remember if it was said. Personally I think it kind of ruins the group viewing experience when people can binge watch it right from the beginning, but nobody asked me, either

I was just assuming because that's how most of the episodic stuff seems to drop...Daredevil, Luke Cage, House of Cards, etc. Does Netflix have weekly releases of shows at all?

The Chelsea Handler show is weekly. Shows like Daredevil and House of Cards are really just long movies split up. Much more bingeable. The new eps might have a linear story in the host segments (like seasons 8-10), but the movies are the core of each episode, and I can't imagine any cliff hangers that would be so compelling that the next episode must be watched immediately.
Of course if they are available I could see watching a couple if the mood struck me, but I would probably be more apt to rewatch episodes and save the unwatched ones. Kind of like giving myself a gift every now and then.

I'm planning on watching one at a time. Not me. I'm going to set up fourteen screens and watch all of the episodes simultaneously. That way I can be up to speed in two hours.

Definitely watching it on Netflix first thing, though I'll try to catch the live premiere if I can. Also hoping they'll be releasing new episodes weekly. IMO Releasing them all at once might be overkill for a longer show like MST3K.

A shame all are going up at once, losing the surprise of what movie is releasing next and allowing some to binge and others to take their time to catch up.
Given the cinematic runtimes of episodes, they should have treated each as a standalone movie release on Netflix, with one going up each week.

I feel the urge to point out that that podcast was recorded AT Comic Con not long after the Netflix deal was announced, which in turn was not long after the deal was made, which means release options likely weren't decided yet. Also worth noting is that Joel wasn't the one who claimed they were dropping all at once, but it was one of the podcasters. It's true he did nothing to deny it, but it could also just as easily be read as him having nothing to share on the subject as well.
That said, it's most likely they are dropping all at once since the production schedule is so scrunched together, allowing for work on all the episodes to happen simultaneously. So while I don't take that podcast as confirmation I do believe that it's likely to happen.

I guess that's the way "television" is watched now, but I'm not a fan of it. If you want to binge after the season is out and on DVD or whatever, sure, go nuts. But releasing all the new episodes at the same time is not my cup of tea. In fact, it might make me skip picking up streaming Netflix altogether and just wait for it to come out on disc or whatever.

Love you Mod, but I do have to point out a tiny bit of amusement in the fact that you just said you're going to protest bingewatching through Netflix by bingewatching through another format. Here is the thing, bingewatching is a choice. Watching at your leasure is a choice as well. The only thing Netflix is offering by dropping them all at once is for you to choose which one fits you. By dropping them all at once they aren't forcing you to watch them all in a row, that is a consumer option supported by the "just one more episode" complex. MST doesn't work well for that, I agree, as it's not a story driven show, but being offered a choice isn't exactly a negative. You can not be a fan of it, but it's not telling you when you NEED to watch it. And it's not going anywhere for years at the very least, so you can take your time if you wish. What I'm really saying is do what you will, but I personally don't agree with not supporting the show as it airs based on the convenience of the format.

And to be fair, I never said I'd binge watch it on DVD. I said those who want to do that when the DVD comes out can to their heart's content I get your point, and I agree nobody is forcing anything on anybody by having all the episodes available from the get-go. I was really looking at it from the perspective of a collective viewing/discussion experience for the fans. If there's no set schedule for release, it's a free-for-all and everyone goes at their own speed. Some fans will watch like crazy, others will space it out. You lose the "everyone watch this week and discuss your favorite parts, etc" experience. Trust me, I get it's probably not as big a deal as I see it. I would be surprised if I actually didn't pick up Netflix streaming for the show. I already subscribe for their physical media, which I would likely drop in favor of streaming while I enjoy the new MST3K season, so it would be mostly a wash when it comes to how much I fork over to Netflix. In a way the all-at-once format does do everyone a favor - you can watch the entire season and only pay for a month of Netflix instead of what would easily be a three-month subscription if they put them out weekly. I've got a while to chew on this. We'll see what happens.

One thing that could happen would to have a thread here that works kind of like a book club. Once a week a episode is chosen, either new or old, and then discussed the following week here.
